I love Colbert! It’s a shame that he and other late night TV hosts have done a better job of calling out Trump than some elected Democrats.
The only thing a dictator hates more than ridicule is when people laugh at him. I guess watching a comedian impersonate you every night hurts your little feelings.
Trump can’t turn it off so he’s got to cancel Colbert to kick the habit.
Make no mistake about it, CBS canceling Colbert is no coincidence. Trump silences critics, rewrites culture, and demands loyalty, and payoffs. His vendetta is shaping a dark, dystopian future. Authoritarianism is advancing! I'm wearing this "We will NOT comply with tyranny" t-shirt right now 👇
The WSJ scoop was all over the msnbc shows last night, but I thought, "Will anything come of it?" No, it never does. Teflon Don skates through it. People say that THIS will bring him down. No, it won't. If the testimony of many, many women doesn't harm him, will a dirty birthday card? No. BELIEVE WOMEN!
Thomas, you're right. Nothing can hurt Trump. If things get too hot, he will simply resign with the proviso that the new president Vance pardon him....unless he's too stupid to figure that out.
I watched that show and knew Colbert was doomed…and so did he! He showed the integrity and courage we all need to show if we are to beat those scumbags!
I predict Colbert will have another show within months of leaving CBS if he so chooses. One thing you didn’t mention is that his Late Show is currently #1 in the ratings over Kimmel & Fallon. CBS is looking foolish right now.
"And CBS is claiming that they killed the highest rated late night talk show, and one of the high points of CBS’s entire entertainment division, because of 'financial reasons.'”
A new show within months? I predict just a few weeks! He's too wonderful to take much time off! Stephen Colbert for official Comedian of the 21st Century so far!
People are now predicting he'll create his own production company and keep on going - sounds like streaming to me. Talk about CBS shooting itself in the petard!
Hopefully, Colbert will have the last laugh. I'm through with Paramount, Disney, CBS, and any other related entities. I think 60 Minutes will start losing viewers, which is a shame for the once-proud channel of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite.
I took a bit of heart today after hearing a comment on MSNBC. They were talking about how shows like "The Daily Show" have a large base of followers among younger viewers, who really aren't that married to network TV anyway. The speculation was that if Colbert decides to keep going on a streaming platform, or YouTube, his viewers and supporters will follow him. For better or worse, in this day and age of multiple media options, getting your network TV show cancelled doesn't necessarily have to end your career. Tia Marie Torres, of Pitt Bulls and Parolees, bounced back after the show was canned by Animal Planet (after they were sold, according to Tia, to big tech). She launched her own show "Life with the Underdogs" which is available on multiple platforms including her website "Rabid Reality". She continues her mission to rescue dogs and work with parolees, and all the donations now go directly to VillaLobos Rescue. All of that to say if Colbert wants to resurface on a different platform not beholden to corporate ass-kissing and bowing to the king, he will. And we'll all be there with him.
I'm more distressed right now about the cuts to public media. Those programs actually NEED federal funding. In Arizona, rural and tribal people rely on those outlets for weather warnings and other critical information. That's true all over.
This pathetic excuse for a human being has such a fragile ego and non-existent self-esteem that he cannot accept any form of criticism. He is a child in a man's clothing, surrounded by a disgusting horde of supporters who fulfill his every whim and lick his boots in a crazed attempt at gaining his favor. Must we be subjected to such insanity and depravity? Is there no instrument within the existing legal, judicial and executive structure that can oust him from our midst? Must we endure two more years of this horror before he can be impeached and discarded like the trash he is? We have had enough! This has to stop!
Is it just him these days, with his venous insufficiency and dementia, or is it increasinly Stephen Miller and JD Vance? If Trump makes it throught the next three years alive, he won't be steering the ship, so be on the alert for more racism than you ever imagined could happen. And all the rest....sexism, homophobia, transphobia, eugenics, etc.
And Then the Revolution....to the Real Future for ALL the Citizens!
True! I avoid the advertising on all legacy TV, and stream like crazy, It's so annoying now, to have a show interrupted for 4 minutes for 11-12 commercials. My remote is exhausted when I switch to cable TV!
Or because the Show is Too Expensive? 15 million per year for Colbert. Plus whatever the show costs to make. Not cheap, re-run a baseball game. Get as many viewers, and Beer commercials pay for it?
Another way for Drumpf to divert the media from his BFF relationship with Epstein. As Michelangelo reported yesterday, the two share “a secret” they both understand. He’s SO desperate to change a subject that’s not going away.
No network cancels a top rated show unless it’s capitulating to some form of pressure. The only show we watch on CBS is Stephen Colbert. Now there’s no reason to watch CBS at all. Colbert will surely gain more fans (and a larger audience) after this.
Colbert will end up on PBS. (My dream!) They will help each other. No one’s mentioned South Park, whose 2 year hiatus is due to end this month. Parker and Stone, its creators , have called the merger a total shitshow.
I am sick to my stomach of how blatant and in your face Disrespect these oligarchs and corporations have for society.
We need to find out what business they’re in and boycott them. I have visited Paramount and Disneyland for the last time.
They are like insects they are everywhere in all aspects of our lives 😡
Just like the book said, "When Corporations Rule the World".
F. !!!!! Can’t we have any nice things ?? F. !!!!!

I am so over it: angry, frustrated, demoralized.
And Colbert knew what he was doing. Good for him.
Thomas, you're right. Nothing can hurt Trump. If things get too hot, he will simply resign with the proviso that the new president Vance pardon him....unless he's too stupid to figure that out.
Agree. Trump is a slimy creature. He is never accountable. Nothing with his name on it will be released.
I watched that show and knew Colbert was doomed…and so did he! He showed the integrity and courage we all need to show if we are to beat those scumbags!

Thanks Mike-- but in second paragraph:
"And CBS is claiming that they killed the highest rated late night talk show, and one of the high points of CBS’s entire entertainment division, because of 'financial reasons.'”
Whoops! 😅 missed that! Thanks Michelangelo!
I will be very disappointed if trump succeeds in ousting Kimmel. I don't care about Fallon--I think he's way over-rated.
My local station here in San Diego (not CBS) said The Late Show was the only CBS show to recently gain viewers.
A new show within months? I predict just a few weeks! He's too wonderful to take much time off! Stephen Colbert for official Comedian of the 21st Century so far!
He could go back to Comedy Central?
People are now predicting he'll create his own production company and keep on going - sounds like streaming to me. Talk about CBS shooting itself in the petard!
Fuck CBS and Paramount for not standing up to the Orange Fool. They will pay for this many times over. Colbert will be fine.
It all goes back to greed and money.
Hopefully, Colbert will have the last laugh. I'm through with Paramount, Disney, CBS, and any other related entities. I think 60 Minutes will start losing viewers, which is a shame for the once-proud channel of Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite.

He'll be off air for a millisecond. It all depends on what he feels like doing.
True that!

Time to reward them by boycotting.
Other than Colbert I avoided CBS like the plague!

Canceling a comedian for telling the truth…what was all that nonsense about « Cancel Culture » from the left again?
This is where we are heading. I don’t see this getting better until corporate themselves start hurting.
Or because the Show is Too Expensive? 15 million per year for Colbert. Plus whatever the show costs to make. Not cheap, re-run a baseball game. Get as many viewers, and Beer commercials pay for it?

And now, back to Drumpf-Epstein.
Colbert will end up on PBS. (My dream!) They will help each other. No one’s mentioned South Park, whose 2 year hiatus is due to end this month. Parker and Stone, its creators , have called the merger a total shitshow.
