Immigrants have historically been treated poorly when they came to America. My grandparents endured hardship but worked hard so life would be better for their kids, which it was. We are white, but if we had been brown or black, it would have been much worse. I will never understand why color is so important to some people. So superficial, but it suits the GOP.

Hi Donnab, I couldn't have said it better myself. Shame on Cuomo! He needs to go away. I hope Mamdani wipes the floor with him! My family didn't immigrate here, most were enslaved and the rest were indigenous Cherokee. All have suffered from bigotry and discrimination, and none of us could ever become White.

I hope Mamdani wins in a landslide. Cuomo is a handsy creep. Sliwa is nuts. Mamdani must win. We need the tides to turn and young progressives to win. I am sick of the old guard....big talk, no action!!!!!

This article provides a great reason to support Mandami in the NYC mayoral race and why Andrew Cuomo shits on his own Italian American heritage.

As an Italian-American, I thank you, Mike, for reminding us of fairly recent history. Those hateful xenophobes who want to pull up the ladder after they have ascended to US citizenship are, in Hillary Clinton's words, "despicable." Shame on them and their politics. Mamdani is pointing the way forward for the new Democratic Party, one of greater inclusion and more overt social democratic policies, and I am thrilled by his vision.

This article is spot on. The hypocrisy of Cuomo is astonishing. I recall the stories of discrimination told by my Italian grandparents and parents.

My 4 grandparents were Italian and spoke no English. It was hard to communicate with them, but they were nice, hard-working people. People made fun of their different language, attire, and culture. I have tons of respect for my ancestors. People like Cuomo, Giuliani and DeSantis give a bad name to Italians. They are a disgrace to the Italians I have known.

It is painfully clear what eliminating DEI means. Fascism "loves" a racist society. And the coup continues... Dasvidanyia Comrades.

Yes and the constant crying about antisemitism being a liberal problem while the right was gutting protections for African Americans all in a coordinated effort and using accusations of antisemitism to put all liberal colleges on the defensive. I never even heard of Ackman before this campaign to vilify DEI. War in the middle east also worked against the Dems and Bibi knew it would. Strange how the current war in Gaza was so well timed to help distract from vilifying DEI and pushing college heads to resign based on antisemitism. Now the decades long crusade of antisemitism pursued by White Nationalist against Jews is seeping through the cracks. Cue the press to be surprised again by what they can't seem to remember. In todays America victimhood is the key to avoiding punishment and doing what you want. A sad situation that we all are responsible for.

From the LA Times:

Without evidence, White House press secretary alleges fraud in California election

By Ana Ceballos

Minutes ahead of California’s voting centers opening to the public Tuesday morning, President Trump took to Truth Social to slam the electoral process for Proposition 50 as rigged.

When asked to elaborate on Trump’s claim, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt claimed without providing evidence that fraud is happening with mailed-in ballots.

“Fraudulent ballots are being mailed-in in the names of other people, in the names of illegal aliens who shouldn’t be voting in American elections,” Leavitt claimed at a White House press briefing.

“There’s countless examples and we would be happy to provide them.”

The White House did not immediately respond to a request from The Times for those examples.

As a Jewish American woman, oh hell as a human being, I’m not afraid of Muslims. It seems to me that the people to be afraid of in America right now called themselves Christians.

It didn’t have to be this way for Cuomo. He could’ve talked about his accomplishments as governor which are many. Of course, there’s the sexual harassment and nursing home deaths scandals on his record too. He knows better but shows who he really is every time his back is against the wall.

The “Jew” issue is that people are not savy enough to see the Jewish MAGA (Bibi’s fascists) from the normal folks. Then you run up against fanatics in Islam and logic, history, and solutions go to hell in a hand basket. Please do NOT try to lay blame on “us,” this is MAGA world.

I thought the same thing when Israel started their genocide campaign against Gaza. They did what had been done to them only a generation ago.

Solidarity, I say.

Let’s face it, every person required to stay below decks came because they needed to escape oppression or poverty. The original Founders were aristocracy remember. The aristocracy were the original bankers. It was the Dutch invention of international banking that made the invasion of North America possible. Aristocrats funded the genocide indigenous tribes of South America too. Real estate you know. Aristocrats think because their sail came with champagne, it means they get to eat your piece of the pie too. Fairness says everyone starts with at least 1 piece of pie. We have more pie than we can eat.

Classism is all fear and greed. Racism is all fear and ignorance. Reduce or eliminate ignorance and fear? The result will greatly diminish extractive greed by improving humanity’s wellbeing. THIS is why our billionaires must be divested of greed.
