Very well said. They won’t be able to restrain themselves. Mark Robinson or somebody else will break the unity illusion in short order and the campaign will resume as it was. Democrats need to keep up the push against Project 2025 and remember that the violent language began on the other side.

You do know project 25 is nothing but a book right? Every party sets out recommendations for the future every 4 years. Stop the BS and actually read it.

Started with the other side? basket of deplorables seems to come to mind.

Come on man!!

Cannon just dismissed the stolen documents case. Trump's mafia is taking over. In the hands of the right judges, no pun intended, all crime can be potentially legal. The supreme court, lower case intended, has declared the Constitution to be illegal. Trump has taken mafia tactics, buying police and judges, and applied it on a national scale.

He learned from his buddy, mafia lawyer Roy Cohn. Trump built buildings in New York City. The mafia controlled the concrete business, among others. NYC tried to get into the concrete business themselves to get around the mafia, but it didn't work out so well. The mafia's role in the history of New York City's construction is significant. Never written about, however. I'm a retired architect. this is well known amongst many of us, especially if you practiced in New York, which I did not, but knew about from various contacts. Trump is also well known for stiffing architects, engineers, contractors, etc., but that's another topic.

Trump learned from the mafia and he's applying it on a national scale. I suspect the 'assassination attempt' was staged. Could be wrong, of course, but would you put this beyond Trump? Not me. 3 dead people? What's that to Trump? Nothing. Those in the military who died were 'suckers and losers'. What's a few dead bodies for Trumps goals? Nothing to him. It's all him. Everybody else is fodder.

How did a guy get on the roof of a building with a high powered weapon? Trump's events are heavily controlled. The only people allowed in there are people the want to be there.

If it was a real assassination attempt, I just wish the guy had been a better shot. Damn!

Keep going after votes! We still have the 'electoral college', which still determines who the president is. Go after electoral votes. If he loses, he won't accept the outcome, but we can deal with that when it comes. First we need the electoral votes. If he wins, I'm trying figure out which country to move to.

I am looking at getting out of the country as well.

Cost of living in Italy is significantly less than the US. We would be moving as retirees. UK has closed it's retiree visa program. I do have some ties in Northern Ireland. It is daunting all the way around, but might have to do it.

Consider Slovenia and Croatia as well, though they have been 'discovered' to some extent. Still great places I think.

PREACH Michelangelo!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 The media immediately tried to turn Trump into a "sympathetic" figure so they could milk this thing for as long as possible. The coddling and ass kissing pre-shooting was child's play compared to what's happening now. But don't fall for the badoinky doink, folks! Stay the course, eyes on the prize. I'm ridin' for Biden, all the way to the white house!

Great analysis as always, Mike! I grew up with my 4 siblings just a few miles from the shooting site in Butler, PA. I sent a text to our group chat alerting my brother and sisters to the shooting. They, like me, registered as Republicans at 18 (a LONG time ago for me; my first National vote was for Nixon in 1972!). But unlike me, they all remain Republican. My sisters tend to be more moderate and generally dislike Trump, but my brother is MAGA through and through and even has a Trump “shrine” in his house full of his MAGA bling. My brother’s very first comment on the chat Saturday was “F’ing Dem Libtards are ALL sick people”. When I replied that I am a Dem and liberal and I am not sick or a “tard”, his reply was “you have a brain malfunction” and “your kind have pissed him off now, and just wait till he gets re-elected and takes out his enemies”. I didn’t escalate the rhetoric further and changed the subject, but it worries me that my own brother would be so blinded and brainwashed. But I fear that his warning is what we have to deal with next year. I will vote against Trump for the third time in my life come November. But I remain convinced we would have a better chance of winning if we had a younger candidate.

Today Sen. Ron Johnson began the dialogue of blaming Critical Race Theory for the assassination attempt. Republicans will make the most of this, democrats need to wake up. We are not playing with an equal and fair opponent. We are up against a ruthless opponent that will stop at nothing.

Republicans know they’re like Wile E Coyote with a ticking time bomb in their hands, and that is Project 2025. I’m just going to give their suppression attempts the same consideration they give attempts to address gun violence after every school shooting. I’m ignoring it because they now are admitting this is a serious roadmap and are terrified of Americans becoming aware of it. Fascists gonna fascist. Fist bump Fight for Democracy.

Let’s all pledge TODAY to stop calling the former Republican Party the “GOP”. Stop this now as a show of unity. Stop it in print, stop it verbally, and stop it in conversation. Why do we give the MAGA Fascist movement this quaint honorary label? “GOP” means Grand Old Party. They are not grand and the Democratic Party is older. From now until November all pundits and opinion journalist need to come together on this small show of unity. The Republican Party is now the ReTrumplican party. I have ever seen “GOP” on any printed ballot. So let’s not confuse the under informed further. This election will be too close. If we all agree the Republican Party is dead, we should all agree the ‘GOP’ as a moniker is not to be used again.

Sorry but you are wrong. SCOTUS has more power than Trump. It wasn't Trump who used Citizens United to expand the power of the wealthy as part of a long thought-out plan by the wealthy. Sad to say but when the right doesn't hold the have the majority in Congress or the Presidency they are never really out of power when wealthy think tanks remain a powerful as ever. The right has developed a huge power base of unelected wealth that has taken control of our unelected judges. When are liberal wealthy elites going to organize to have our backs when we are out of office and undermine the Republicans thirst for power like the right does to us? Trump being as hateful as possible only distracts us from the decades long endeavor take control of the judiciary on every level and when Trump came along they knew they had the guy who would carry through with their long sought goal and as sad as it is his appeal to the American right was the cherry on top. Democrats live from election cycle to election cycle while the right holds power whether they are elected or not. Odd that it appears that it's the left that clings to the childlike belief in the America we heard about in grade school.

Good point. Citizens United was a bad day in our history. I believe the country has always leaned left of center, but this has become ridiculous. We are controlled by corporstions buying judges and political leaders. The far right push of the GOP will eliminate freedoms and leave the "little people" in the dust. I'm glad I'm retired, but don't see golden years ahead.

So as it turns out Joe was being shielded by his closest advisors from the dire state of the internal polling. Apparently places like New Mexico, NJ and Va. were in play. Once he found out the truth he saw the handwriting on the wall apparently. He has to be commended for his courage.

I blame his "team" who have shown incompetence for quite sometime. It was their idea to have a debate in June, in that format for one thing. What the hell were they even thinking? IMO.

The would-be assassin so far seems to fit the profile of all except one of the successful presidential assassins; a young male nut of a loner who had delusions of glory and was a good shot. The only one that doesn’t fit is John Wilkes Booth, who shot Lincoln as part of a conspiracy. Even the would-be assassin’s death fits the profile as none lived all that long after the crime.
