This entire situation might be indicative of the dysfunction of the NY State Democratic Party. They should have been able to BURY this creep using Oppo research. But they didn't. Yes, it was a tough media environment given the racist "crime" signaling that the GOP used. But this guy is the REAL crook, and it's clear he's been running wild for long time. This is just one more data point that the NY state Democratic party needs to get its shit together. Losing 4 House seats is a disgrace, and no whining about losing in court should be accepted. They overplayed their political hand, lost in court, and then were whupped at the polls. The party got fat and lazy.....and lost. *SIGH!*

Nothing I can add to this. I currently live in New York 04, but I used to live New York 03, I’m appalled and I am frustrated. I did call your show yesterday and you gave me the ability to vent my frustration with the New York State democratic chair person, Jay Jacobs. There was zero effort to help Robert Zimmerman, who was an amazing candidate, there was zero effort to educate the public about the dangerous candidate that Santos was. As of this morning, I’ve contacted the New York State democratic chair again, the Nassau County Democrats again. The failure of the NYS democratic party is why we lost the House, Jacobs needs to be removed, and Santos needs to be indicted. There needs to be a special election.

I’m flabbergasted by The NY Times article about Mr. Santos and his resume. What I am most confused by is why the article is coming out on December 19, 2022, well after the 2022 election. Not one legitimate news outlet (or his Democratic opponent, Mr. Zimmerman) looked closely at Mr. Santos’ credentials for a story that could have been published BEFORE the 2022 election?? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Voters in his district could have made a more informed decision had someone ... anyone focused on his credentials.

Some points: the role of the DNC needs to be considered. Howard Dean introduced a 50 state strategy but since then, the DNC has been abandoned to "consultants" and failed candidates like the current chair, a very poor choice by Joe Biden. The state parties are largely failures (with notable exception of Ben Wikler's Wisconsin). And the fetishization of identity politics and renewed anti-Semitism allowed a "Santos" to be chosen over a "Zimmerman." The implications of the loss of the House was never adequately explained to the American public. Of course, the chief miscreant in this mess is the Attorney General, who could have charged those responsible for Jan 6 at least a year ago. As ex-Congressman Riggleman (you should have him as a guest) explained on Deadline White House, the "election deniers" are still fully present in the House of Reps.

In his forced retirement, Sean Patrick Maloney must be kept far from any levers of power after his debilitating defeat this fall. This may be the worst performance by any DCCC ever. And Jay Jacobs has got to go, too: I've seen his name tagged with "NY State Democratic chair" for eons, and his performance this cycle is terrible. Run a Google check on your opponents, people, then run a background check.

Santos assumed that if a criminal and con man like Trump can run for office, then he can too.

Not even sure that this lying in POS is LGBT, but if he is, give the Repubs credit for being inclusive enough to welcome yet another addition to the family slop jar, along w/ "Gays Against Groomers" & LCR. 🙄🙄🙄

The mere fact that New York is sending another POS to Washington is a sign of the sheer degradation of the term Public Servant. The good news is that a Federal background check should relieve us of this living excrement. You can also add that the velvet mafia rescinded his gay card after the first dry run for office...

There is something seriously wrong with our political system when an out and out liar can get into & remain in office. He’s not going to resign!

Just one more example that Republicans don’t care about their lawless conmen being part of their party. As long as they win, they don’t care who is elected.

So, what will happen? Most likely nothing.

Typical Repugnican thievery. Looks like ageism to me. Let's hope the Dems can reclaim this seat and further stop the MAGA morons platform, or lack thereof!

The GOP has morphed into a criminal empire, filled with the lowest form of 2 legged creatures on the planet. We'd better off with the cosa nostra running the parry. At least they only hurt their own kind.

I couldn’t agree more with the analysis. Talk about dropping the ball. The notion that anyone would completely fabricate almost everything on a resume & no one was interested in that being a story underscores what a sad state of affairs the NY State Democratic Party is in. Sounds like the media and the campaigns for both candidates share responsibility. If that word has even any meaning at this point. Societally we are numbed to the absurd amount of lying that MAGA Republicans primarily will resort to. At the end of the day when facts are deemed irrelevant and an inconvenience what voters are left with are buffoons , cretins and power grabbers at any cost ie Bobo, MGT and Santos who traffic in lies, bigotry and misinformation. On a positive note the comments in response to the Santos article are delicious

RCCC isn't going to do anything. Why didn't the DCCC do a search?

Apparently the DCCC DID do the research and publicized it and the media ignored it. I am not saying that should have been the end of it but everyone saying the dems needed to bury this guy should understand that point as well. Let’s point the ire in the right direction and stop doing the republicans job for them but pooping on our own party.
