From your lips to God's ears (as they say, my friend). Man's inhumanity to his fellow man is hard to fathom, but is usually based in the drive for money and power, or both. Something which the Republican party knows intimately. I watched their congressional show yesterday afternoon and the display of ass-licking was, as usual, appalling. Senator Gillibrand and others were fearless and brave in pointing out the horrors of Orange Hitler's Republican party, not to mention the grift.
I am sure that you know about the Stanford Experiments, Two groups of students one designated prisoners the other guards, In short order the guards became abusive even unto death, when the experiment was called off.
The troops in My Lai doing the killing, were ordinary kids, just like your own family. but were easily dehumanized, meaning losing their humanity and viewing the "enemy" as not human. The same thing happened in concentration camps and POW camps.
In May 1964 I laid my father to rest in Pineville, LA, the Alexandria National Cemetery, in a corner by the wall were five German POW graves, however four POW's all died on the same day. There is a story there.
The five German POWs,were originally interred at Camp Fannin,TX.The names of all five are known.
Humans are capable of astounding feats of magnamity, kindness, bravery but the same people, throwing a switch are also capable of equally astounding brutality, and cruelty.
Ar one time, all of us, including the Hitlers, Stalins, Pol Pots, Tojos were cute cuddly babies, the pride of their mothers eyes.

Oh damn, Mike, did we have to reread the shit show that was Vietnam under (mostly) Nixon and Kissinger? 😩😩 And you actually didn't go back to the before-Hersh times, when France asked us to intervene in Vietnam in the 1950's, as the Vietnamese were rebelling against their French colonial masters, and then JFK actually continued a 'limited military action' in Vietnam before his assassination. Johnson just took over from where JFK left off and we were off to the "forever war" races.
After WWII the U,.S. just couldn't stop inviting itself to one skirmish or war after another. After all, what we sell now is....WAR - the bullets, and automatic guns and planes and bombs and drones and missiles and F35s and all the other expensive toys of the U.S. Warmongers.
I'd be dellighted to be a citizen in a non-relevant nation that minds its own business, and Trump has hastened our side into non-relevancy, which is fine with me.
Thanks for this, Mike. It is true about history repeating itself. This is America. I really enjoyed hearing your guests this week, especially Dr. Kelly from yesterday who talked about America's history of fascism. It's never really gone away, and the Nazis took a page from the former(?) confederate states Jim Crow culture. It's also the battle between the haves and have nots, where the haves have manipulated nearly everything to divide and conquer the have nots. I also liked your Monday guest, Rashad Robinson, who reminded us that the battles won for our rights and freedoms are never over.
I see the number of votes in New Jersey that had to be purged is 6600. Is that true since yesterday you said it was less than 400. You forgot to mention our friends in regular media will be milking this for clicks right along with right wing media. That's why "getting out the message" from the Dems is always dependent on what the MSM deems newsworthy. The Dems can't control the press no matter how you slice it.
No, i was clear several times: the number of noncitizens who were accidentally registered was 6600. The number who actually voted wa less than 400. it proves that even if you give thousands of noncitizens the ability to vote, the vast majority won’t, will know it was a mistake or whatever, and obviously if this was plan, as i said, it was a failure..
of course they will be milking it. and i said that several times -- i spoke about this issue in every our of the show. I said dems should go on offense and demand the federally paid for ID that was part of john lewis voting rights act.
Thank you for clarifying. I usually only listen to the last hour of your show if I have things to do. I really like your show and you seem to more accessible than the other hosts for people like me who would have trouble getting my point across on the phone.

Good points, William! I saw the movie about the Stanford experiment. Was someone actually killed?
The blue eyes / brown eyes experiment filmed by the 5th grade teacher also illustrates how this power / cruelty comes about.
I’ll never forget the looks of those kids or the young school children being marched out by the gestapo.
