I cannot believe we r going down this road. As a 72 year old Jewish guy I find posting the 10 Commandments in schools to be an offensive endorsement of Christian Nationalism in our public schools. If these parents are so concerned, well… post them in your own home, make your child review them daily… but not at a public school.

The commandments should be posted in Hebrew. Then, the Torah, Book of Mormon, Precepts of Unitarianism, Koran, etc. etc.

Imagine how wonderful the world would be if all religions were banished, outlawed to never poison mankind again with this man created plague.

How about the religion of being respectful, helpful and kind to everyone you meet? That would involve true sacrifice and no materialism, too difficult for most.

It's Christian Nationalist bullshit. I would encourage EVERY educator in Louisiana's public schools, colleges and universities to post those UPSIDE DOWN, and then blame Alito. Just a thought.

I am so sick of those assholes. If only they'd get raptured to theocratic heaven and leave the rest of us to live our lives in peace.

Huh, things must be so great down in Louisiana that their elected representatives, right up to the executive office of the state, have no other governing to take care of.

Is that the case? I myself had not heard this at all.

No drug issues? Public health problems? No thorny sanitation and public hygiene issues? No cancer-causing pollution to look into?

No potholes?

Everybody graduates?

Everybody knows how to read?

Life expectancy on the rise?

No?

Is “god” gonna handle those things? The things these folks are ostensibly paid to do?

No?

We must be loud, and we must be clear: the Republican Party, and SCOTUS, are now both unapologetic Christian Nationalist institutions…and unless the Democrats win in November, our country goes from remaining a centuries old democracy, to becoming an unrecognizable and completely un-American Christian Nationalist theocracy.

We must win! The GOP is hell-bent on taking this country down and stealing every dime for their wealthy benefactors. All they do is cut taxes for billionaires and our corporate masters. Only a fool would want to live in a theocracy. What ever happened to free will?

This is why “in god we trust” on the money and “one nation under god” in the pledge of allegiance should never have been tolerated. Every time I expressed anger over these in the past I was told I was intolerant and there was nothing wrong with it. Well, here we are. You can’t give these fuckers an inch.

The dumbing down of America will be a proven fact if these scumbags steal the election in November. All they excel at is cheating and lying.

We need to support the Freedom From Religion Foundation & the ACLU, they fight to ensure that the separation of church and state continues to exist in this country. The so called “religious freedom” law is a sham and simply a cover for white faux “christians” to propagate and enforce their christian nationalism views on us all , no matter what religion you may follow or not follow. The “freedom of religion” policy as defined ,presently, will create a chasm between the diverse religions in this country, another bad legal decision that will create chaos and hate amongst us. The Rowe vs Wade overturned decision has already exposed the radical idea of “freedom of religion” is only limited to white christian males . Other religions , like the Jewish & Muslim religions view on women’s rights regarding abortion & birthing have been over ridden, even though these 2 religions insist according to the Torah & the Koran, that the mother’s life & health is paramount and overrides the fetus and medical birth issues.Of course, atheists and agnostics etc. are totally ignored when the constitutional religion & the state separation law is cast aside by these religious “christian” radicals, where do those US citizens rights stand?

Hey, as long as the governor is using Moses, the leader of the Jewish people and as the reason for requiring the posting of the Ten Commandments, why doesn’t he require the posting of the 613 Jewish commandments?

Two things: 1. I have a distaste for liking articles that make me queasy as a Baptist (none practicing). 2. This ignorance cannot go unnoticed. The theoc-rats are really assigning themselves to purgatory with moves like this. Freedom also includes respect for different views and therein lies a moral quandary. Follow your earthen "leaders"? or your heart which tells you the founders were correct in separating church and state. I quite enjoyed my forays to Southern Decadence all those years but rethuglicans ruined my desire to return when Katrina exposed the government's indifference to majority black cities and Louisiana overt zeal to curtail minority voting which ushered in whites who don't care about anything except imposing their mores onto those who don't remotely share their views. Latest insult is to split a city so that the whites don't have to pay taxes and literally carve themselves into a segregated enclave away from the blacks. And they wonder why state revenues are dwindling...

Funny how the Christian nationalists who claim to follow the 10 Commandments don't seem to mind having their leaders not follow any of them.

You just mentioned the 14th amendment making people equal, yet the 14th amendment is being violated when it comes to protecting children from non therapeutic genital cutting by only protecting girls, leaving boys and intersex children with no protections. Those laws also state customary and cultural cuttings are not exempt. That's discrimination and technically seismic as only one gender is protected.
