MAGA callers try to make sense of their own movement's hate
The murder of Charlie Kirk and the aftermath had the right-wingers calling into my SiriusXM program grasping.
There was, of course, much discussion on my SiriusXM program this week about the brutal murder of Charlie Kirk and the aftermath. Lots of smart conversation with our great audience, and I’m thankful to those of you who are listeners and who called in.
Then there were the MAGA callers, a few of them, who often think they’ve “got” me with this or that claim they make.
Ken in Georgia challenged me to find any audio clips of Kirk “engaging in hate speech.”
Huh?
I’d spent a lot of time the day before playing Kirk's vile screeds—which we saw whitewashed in the media—of course repeatedly stating he should not be killed and we do not condone political violence. I read comments of Kirk’s to Ken from a list I had in front of me, but I didn’t have the clips from the day before at my fingertips.
So he thought he’d somehow proven they didn’t exist. He wouldn’t believe me when I told him that Kirk said he wouldn’t fly on a plane if he saw the pilot was Black.
“I don’t think he said that…but if he did, yes, that would be racist,” he said.
By the end of the call, we produced the clip of Kirk saying he wouldn’t fly on a plane with a Black pilot.
Ken didn’t know what to do, the world collapsing in on his MAGA narrative.
Then came Jack in Florida, who seemed to imply Jesus was into guns…or something.
Listen in and let me know your thoughts!
I get the impression that when the trumpers ask for an example of the hate speech, they have never heard Charlie Kirk speak.
I remember hearing those calls last week on his show. Those MAGA people are so full of shit!
