MAGA man claims Trump can't become a dictator

It's Election Day--Pro-Democracy Day!--our opportunity to beat back fascism. While we wait for returns, here are a couple of calls to my show in which I do battle with the deluded.

I’m so glad we are finally here, even with all the anxiety that comes with this Election Day. The energy of so many of you and that of the callers to my SiriusXM program have helped me stay focused. So, thanks for that.

Yes, it’s the most important election of our lifetimes. And so was the last one and the one before that. That’s just the nature of elections now and for the foreseeable future, as millions of Americans continue to be swept up in a cult of extremism. None of us knows where it’s going, but we just have to keep doing our best to beat them back.

It’s close, and we will likely not know the outcome of the presidential race tonight.

So, consider this post a place for you all to discuss the election over the next day or so. It's best to stay off social media, as lots of disinformation will be flowing, and exit polls are always off base.

In this one, Matt from Maryland uses his status as a military veteran to privilege his argument that Trump wasn’t making a violent comment about Liz Cheney facing guns up in her face. He is an example of how impossible it is to have a conversation with these people when they refuse to even admit to the basics of right and wrong.

And in this one, Bill from Virginia attempts to refute the idea that Trump can become a dictator or an authoritarian like Adolf Hitler or even Russia’s Vladimir Putin or Hungary’s Victor Orban because we are 350 million in 50 states. It made little sense, but at least he was more civil.

You’ll have to tell me if I get a little too angry with these people or if I should be more composed.

It’s one reason why I like being a radio host and could never be a political candidate. When I see Vice President Harris and all the crap she has to put up with—like the Fox News interview—I find it just amazing she is at keeping her cool.

Harris has run a near flawless campaign, and that’s especially true considering how short it’s been. But the shortness of her candidacy actually may have helped her, because it’s less time for the media to try to tear her down.
