Weaver is a closeted gay person. Possibly self-hating. Why he is a Republican will never make sense to me. Maybe some day he'll exit his cocoon and live his life honestly and openly. The more people come out, the more people will realize that they know/love someone LGBT.

Power and privilege is why he is a Republican.

"I do not understand why a person has to announce their sexuality." Because the cultural presumption of heterosexuality is persuasive and oppressive. I've noticed those who don't like others telling the truth about their are REALLY big fans of the status quo.

Why do people do this and think they will get away with it? It always catches up to them. In this day and age being gay is not as it was 20 years ago. In fact, I do not understand why a person has to announce their sexuality. I hope someday it just doesn’t matter. That said, Mr. Weaver is a scum.

As for college debt, it is absurd that a government loan for higher education has any interest attached to it. Give people a $10,000 deduction, and make the interest rate 0%.

The governor of texas is a liar and Ted Cruz is a White Nationalist, Privileged asshole.

Of course sexuality matters. It always has and always will. Imagine being a gay person in a society where fewer than 5% of the people are openly gay or bi: How do you find a partner? If you're straight, you have the luxury of not "having" to announce that fact, because that's what everyone assumes of you anyway.

If you're gay or bi, and you want to live your life with the same privileges that straight people have, the only way to make it work is to be open about who you are.

(I'm straight, btw.)

Please don’t misunderstand me, coming out and being proud of who you are is important, however, there is still stigma about it for so many. I am hoping someday that there will no longer be that stigma. Having to come out to the public ( celebrities and politicians) seems like an invasion of privacy. If political and religious views keep a person from being who they are, hence voting for and supporting people who do not have their best interest, is sad commentary for that person. They should do some deep soul searching. Hypocrisy is the tent with which many in the Republican Party live under.
