It feels weird to be away as the fascistic forces barrel ahead. But there’s never a perfect time to take a break from the madness to recharge, it seems.
Dear Michelangelo, rest, recharge, revitalize but most of all ENJOY! You deserve it. Thanks for all you do for us and for America and for making things better. You are helping so many of us get through this terrible time together. xoxoxo
Love you, Michelangelo! We'll be fine while you take time off, no need to check back in on this thread before next week :). You need to take time for yourself from time to time, as we all do. It's the best thing to do for our physical, mental, and spiritual health, especially during these chaotic times. I rewatched "The Diary of Anne Frank" last night, and it reminded me that we need to stop ICE and the regime running it. Rachel Maddow also had a hopeful monologue this week about how the people, the courts, and even the Republican-controlled Congress are pushing back more and more. More power to Sen. Mark Kelly for suing Hegseth, and more power to AG Ellison in Minnesota for suing the regime, just to name a couple of examples! Say her name: Renee Nicole Macklin Good! Release the Epstein files! Release Drumpf's medical records! Power to the people!
Greetings Michaelangelo - I hope you are having a wonderful time on vacation. In late December, my family went to Belize for a week of rest and getaway from Trump. I live in a NE suburb of Minneapolis and I can tell you things are NOT normal here. Entire Mexican restaurants raided during business hours, employees led away and food and money left sitting on counters and tables! People pumping gas at a gas stations thrown to the ground and driven away while their cars sit at the pump! ICE thugs apparently have been told to be as brutal as possible here. We need swarms of peaceful volunteers to surround and harass these lawless criminals.
Cultivating moments of peace, joy, rest, and laughter are critical in any time but especially THESE times. Trumpianism thrives on unceasing chaos, and the rest of us never taking a break from it is exactly what they want. Don't give it to them. I refuse to. I know what I need to know, and I leave it at that. I refuse to be plugged into the Trump electrical outlet 24/7.
You continue to be one of my few remaining trusted sources of news and information, and I truly thank you for that ☺️🙏🏾.
Enjoy your time away, Michelangelo, and tend to your nervous system. In fact, I advise us ALL to tend to our nervous systems.
Michael, I hope that you'll provide us with some of the 'must see' spots in Medellin, because I'm headed there next month! Well, to Bogota, Medellin and Cartagena. I think that foreign travel always gives you a broader perspective of our world, as well as a welcome retreat from the discouraging political and financial situation of the U.S.
I'm going to my first ever 'airport demonstration' tomorrow, as there is supposed to be a deportation plane leaving Seattle about 5 miles from my house, and so far about 200 people have signed in to be there to protest. I'm reminded of that song from the late '60's or 70's which said "The revolution will NOT BE televised", but now with the ubiquity of cellphones it is!
Thanks for sharing what so many of us are feeling, Mike. R&R refreshes creativity and we all need to start getting real creative. Time for the artists to get to work. Enjoy!
This is a well deserved vacation for you Michelangelo; we all need to re-energize bc this administration is all about turmoil and disruption (as evidenced by your need to avoid Columbia.) We need you to keep being a voice to help restore our democracy, so try to relax and renew. Be safe and enjoy. Nayyera is doing a great job this week. Her vast experience and passion for justice make her an excellent “fill in.”
I hope you can put The Felon in your background for the rest of your vacation. I found it very therapeutic to do that on a recent trip out of the country. He'll still be here when you get back.
Enjoy, Michelangelo! Always miss you when you are gone. Otherwise trying to make sense out of all this without you, seems overwhelming. However, you need a recharge and a break from it all. We all need that, especially when I fear it could get much worse for the next 6 months (if that could even be possible). Stay safe!
Disappointing about Columbia but now you have a rescheduled trip to look forward to and a staycation in a week that is not so brutally cold in NY! Silver linings! And we all need to reset to avert burnout. Hope the week has been a good one so far!
Dear Michelanagelo. Thank you so much for your words of compassion and understanding as you so clearly identify the deep anxiety this regime is causing so many of us who are paying attention and care deeply for our country and our fellow humans. We need your articulate and passionate voice more now than ever but for now please do, as my mother always told me, “take care of #1!”. Enjoy a respite from the chaos and relax. The world will still be here when you return. ❤️🕊️

Have a beautiful vacation. This year especially you’ve earned it!
