Hi Mike, let’s not forget that Harvey Milk was a veteran, served his time honorably and pride defending our country. Harvey Milk was a good politician, trying in his own way to make life easier for all people. This is something to be celebrated, such as naming a Navy ship in his honor…not removing his name. Thanks for your piece this morning Mike. Best to all

Let’s turn our hatred and disgust into fighting like hell, living openly and fiercely and loudly proud. I hope there are record numbers at all Pride events all over the country!

God, I hate these motherfuckers! Sometimes so intensely that it scares me. They are defiling everything we have fought for in the realm of civil rights for over 60 years. Everything that ever made this shithole of hypocrisy moderately livable. A reckoning is coming, probably after the Orange bastard uses some bullshit excuse to declare martial law. Be ready when the balloon goes up.

I wonder if there is any way to shame these people (I hate using the 'these people' phrase!). The first thing that comes to mind, specifically, is "What is it that you're afraid of? How does this harm you personally?" No idea if this would work; does it count as meeting them where they are, which I also think is good advice?

I have to wonder why people who support gay and trans rights have no problem staying home on election day and abandoning those folks to MAGA and Trump. Can someone explain it to me other than the right influencing liberal voters to help them.

The purity problem when you have a diverse party that isn't into this "dear leader" bullsh*t. Point is ... no one can meet the purity test. Why does someone's purity on a specific issue matter if that issue will be ignored (or likely far worse) by the opposition?

If anyone is NOT pure, it's the orange freak! Multiple trophy wives, affairs, financial scandals, et al. So they don't want DEI people named on Navy ships (RBG, Harvey Milk, Thurgood Marshall) Evidently, none of these people merited the honor as they were LGBT, female or black. I can't believe we have to still fight for equal rights for minorities in the year 2025.

I have to say don't have a clue what these nonvoters voters are thinking about. In 2O16 when SCOTUS was on the line I assume liberals being so well informed were aware of it but drank the anti Hillary Kool Aid and let Trump win. Maybe Mike could help clear this up.

Who actually names these ships in the 1st place? Can one person just arbitrarily change it? There should be a law regarding when a change is made (or maybe there is & the drunk commando is ignoring it.

Cheeto leaves no stone unturned in his war on civil rights.

Missoula Montana just adopted the rainbow pride flag as its official city banner. A small beam of light in this otherwise dark red state

I’m sick to death of these hypocritical SOBs trying to take away the rights of women and the LGBTQ+ communities. I flat out refuse to go back into the closet I stepped out of so many years ago. We have fought too damn hard for the rights we have.

Mike, your book It’s Not Over is one of my favorites. I recently lent it to a friend who keeps saying that they can’t take our rights away. We need to fight and fight hard still.

A Fox columnist wrote this “opinion”, and Foxnews actually printed this ignorant trash. Our national orgs and political allies must respond to this hate!

Shame, shame, shame on Grenell and Bessent, traitors to their nature AND our country. I was in San Francisco visiting (and later a 13 year resident of the city) the day that Harvey Milk and mayor Moscone were murdered. I am tearing up as I write this remembering walking down Market Street, with candles from the Castro to City Hall, arm in arm with hundreds of others in silence. And as the son of a Navy pilot from WWII and a brother who served in Vietnam on the USS Enterprise, it pains me to know that philandering yes-man to tRump would have the audacity to do something like this. How far in the wrong direction will this country go?

Wonne, People like Grenell and Bessent have sold their souls and their identity for tax cuts. They lack morals and are terrible role models for young LGBT people who may be trying to exit their closets. Money trumps human rights to these shallow men.
