Registration for today's Zoom Q&A, 6 pm ET, 3 pm PT
Our topic: How so much of the corporate media is terribly covering the 2024 election, the bad response from the New York Times in particular this week, and much more.
A lot to discuss in our online Q&A later today!
Jamison Foser, an incisive progressive media critic who writes Finding Gravity here on Substack—which you should subscribe to if you don’t already—will join me to talk about the continued problems with corporate media as the election is upon us and what journalists should be doing.
We’ll discuss some of the political flashpoints and topics, how the media has treated them, the “both sides” coverage that does a grave disservice, and what’s missing in the coverage.
Jamison this week joined other media critics in responding to the interview New York Times executive editor Joe Kahn gave to Semafor’s Ben Smith, in which he said some pretty stunning things, including that the Times should be covering the election based on the issues that are popular in polls. His piece, The New York Times Protests Too Much, can be found here.
Jamison has been on my SiriusXM radio program as well, so I’m glad he’ll be joining us in our online Q&A. He has worked as a political strategist for years and was executive vice president at Media Matters, working there in the early days from 2004 to 2012. So we will have a lot to discuss with someone who’s been deeply involved in the mix of politics and media.
