Thank you Michelangelo for watching and reporting back! I instead watched Midnight Cowboy on TCM, a 1969 classic I had never seen before and had on my to do list. ☑️ I refuse to watch or listen to Trump. I’m just DONE.

Midnight Cowboy is an excellent movie. An old favorite. Saw it at the movie theater when I was a college student.

Yes! 👍 loved it! Yet the entire time watching it, I kept wondering what in the hell happened to Jon Voigt? Yet another victim of the Trump cult. He was so good in this film.

donnab's avatar

Yes, I was a student when I saw the movie. Great movie and theme song by Nilsson! Voight was a very good actor. Dustin Hoffman was incredible too. What a movie! Voight turned into a right-wing jackass at some point in time. Even his daughter doesn't speak to him!

Jon Voight was an idol in the 70s. He was an amazing actor. “Coming Home” and “Deliverance” were some of his best roles. I have no idea what happened to him. Maybe he got high on his own horseshit.

Yes. Voigt another stained person from a brush with the orange. Everything that/who gets too close turns crappy brown. Seinfeld show had George Costanza buy a Chrysler convertible. It had a pencil in the glovebox with name of John Voigt (with an h) on it with a solid teeth mark bit in it. Somehow the actual Jon (no h) Voigt made cameo appearance and ended up biting George’s arm leaving teeth marks. So, at some party George is trying to get Jerry to get his periodontist friend to look at the arm bite and pencil teeth marks and prove it’s the real Jon Voigt who prior owned George’s car, for bragging rights…. And of course NOT. If you enjoyed Seinfeld show….

Before Jon Voight melted down.

Thanks for taking one for the team. Being forced to watch that spectacle is a torture worse than waterboarding.

Thank you, Michelangelo, for suffering thought that hell on our behalf. The GOP knows they're a sinking ship but they're also acting completely above the law. I'm seeing lots of reports, especially in Texas, of people going to vote and finding out their registration is no longer valid. Tennessee, Louisiana as well. This is the fascist strategy: if they can't win at the polls, just make sure people can't vote. It's scary. We all need to be checking our voter registration every day until November. It's scary.

So true Diane. They’re immoral and will do anything to suppress the vote. Anything.

I watched both the State of the Swamp and the people’s state of the union simultaneously. Both good alternatives. Thanks for your taking the bullet to watch and report. Your report of happenings is what I expected Trump to be, a lying sack of shit.

38% say “very positive”, really ?!! Almost 4 of every 10 of us have successfully been gaslit. Thats what all his tripled down repeated lies are all about, gaslighting the susceptible, gullible or who pre-desired such horrid things done. And he has all R’s there as trained seals to stand and applaud “arr arr arr arr”. Add in all the other illegal, unconstitutional stuff going on, what a sick time we are living in. NO way I expended precious heartbeats watching that live, I can catch Mike’s overview with hopefully minimized time of that hideous gravelly hate filled voice of division. Ten years of dividing us and it’s worked, even many marriages divided by divorce. The large overview really is a window into a warped, hate filled demented mind. 62% of US clearly see that. The rest successfully gaslit or wanted such nasty “ways and means” all along. The FSA living nightmare, Fascist States of America, but not forever.

That “38 percent” who are “very positive” are the deplorables Hillary referred to. They are hateful, regressive and lack critical thinking skills. The magacon cult.

Thanks for your optimism for us after you endured such a god awful, miserable thing.

The alternative state of the swamp and Move On speeches were tremendously heartening with the message that we are the cavalry.

Let’s go; get involved!

I watched several episodes of "Schitt's Creek", all of which I've previously seen at least twice, and it was much more beneficial to my mental health.

I simply couldn't watch the State of The Union speech last night as I knew it would be filled with lies and it would make me feel even more depressed. I never thought I would ever experience a president in my lifetime that was worse than Richard Nixon. Trump is far worse and his impact on the United States and the rest of the would will be felt long after he leaves the White House. The news reporting and commentaries I have read today have me relieved that I didn't watch his lie-a-thon last night. The Democrats have a ton of work to do between now and the midterms. Trump's approval numbers are at record lows. However, the Democrats approval numbers are far too low.

ANYONE who SUPPORTS trump, is an ACCOMPLICE to CHILD RAPE.

What a complete embarrassment- lie upon lie upon lie. As an American I am ashamed

donnab's avatar

I watched State of the Swamp on UTube in lieu of the liar-in-chief. Good to see the Portland frogs, Glenn Kirschner, Joe Walsh and various Democratic Representatives speak. I'd rather scrub the floors than watch that orange felon lie and preen.

Thank you for watching, I was watching but tuned out at one of the first lies. I'm not a New Yorker, but I know that Mayor Mamdani is not a communist, as trump says, but instead he is a Democratic-Socialist, who apparently can't win no matter what. First they don't like that immigrants might have shoveled snow, then they don't like that there was an id requirement to get paid to do the job! WTF!

Cannot thank you and the late night comedians enough for watching that repulsive show.

Making sure that we all don’t have to is such a gift

I listened to maybe 30 seconds of the blowhard, witnessed the adoration of the republican turn coats, the People's SOTU wasn't a whole lot better. The rebuttal? Nope. This republic is done. There are no statesmen/women left. It's all pointing fingers and 'look what I did'..... never concrete solutions, only gaslighting. I'm 80. There's that :(

Curmudgeon's avatar

I can't help but notice and unfortunate rebooting of respect for SCOTUS as if this latest decision is an indicator of reform. Like your court watcher said yesterday no reason to jump to any conclusions but so many people just can't quite live with having 0 faith in SCOTUS even some who aren't Trumpers. Keep up the good work!

Didn’t watch so thanks for that, Mike. I listened to music, good feels. Had to laugh when my shuffle picked up “Fortunate Son”.

BTW as an aside Mike I loved having that scientist from Chicago on discussing the dinosaur and their expedition. Love to have him on again. 1/2 hour of some very interesting stuff.
