Women are pissed about the overturning of Roe and the resultant Trump abortion bans. We all hear the women’s horror stories of being denied medical care, winding up in the ICU and needlessly suffering. Doctors are trained and know what to do — it’s not wait and watch while blood poisoning spreads through a woman’s body.
So Republicans hear the same horror stories we all hear. Do the Republicans try to fix it? No. They try saying the women are lying. When that doesn’t work, they say the women are exaggerating. When the 10 yo rape victim in Ohio had to flee the state for an abortion, Republicans falsely claimed she was too young to get pregnant. (She became pregnant at 9 yo. What she was was too young TO STAY pregnant, her body was immature.) When denying she had been pregnant didn’t work, Republicans went after the woman doctor who provided the abortion. The AG trash-talked the OB/GYN and she wound up for several hours in front of a medical board hearing. The board fined her for privacy violations — she had talked generically about her 10 yo patient and for THAT they fined her. It was nonsense and harassment, intended to put fear into any OB/GYN who would dare participate in an abortion.
The Republicans say they have a messaging problem. They say they just need to explain better their “pro-life” (translation: LET THE WOMEN SUFFER & DIE) stance. The Republicans are delusional if they think they have a MESSAGING problem around abortion. The problem are the bans. The problem is women needlessly suffering and dying.
Personally, I trust women. We sure as hell can’t trust Republicans when they do not listen to medical experts or women. All of this is so much worst because the lawmakers were warned what would happen, how women would be harmed but they forged ahead and restricted abortion access without regard to the impact on women and girls.
Our laws do not require us to donate blood or bone marrow or a kidney to save the life of another, not even if it’s to save the life of a family member. Yet, abortion bans require the women to put her fetus first. Before her own life. The bans don’t even make allowance for when the fetus isn’t viable or has a catastrophic fatal abnormally (like no brain, no lungs, iow cannot live) — abortions denied even then.
Abortion bans don’t allow women to save their own lives. Oh maybe some of the bans allow an abortion if the woman first suffers, risks permanent impairment, and death. Women have suffered. Women have died. But even when the fetus cannot survive or is not viable, bans still deny women an abortion until she nearly dies. This is what happened to Amanda and so many other brave women who shared their private horror stories.
The abortion bans, restrictions, or whatever you want to call the laws that deny women life-saving abortion care are a threat to women’s well being, to our lives.
The current laws don’t work. You know what works: ABORTION ON DEMAND, WITHOUT APOLOGY.

I was a poll greeter this morning here in Fascist Florida. I was passing out the Democratic slate cards to voters. MAGAts were there with flags and signs, doing the same. One voter called me a pedophile, another said Kamala was evil from hell, of course, I was a baby killer. The Repubs had megaphones and were so nasty and obnoxious, yet we waved and smiled and handed out slate cards and were nice to people. I was also told Kamala will never win by a nasty woman and given the middle finger multiple times. There is such a HUGE difference in behavior between Dems and Repukes. They are as nasty as their orange felonious freak!
