A MAGA man called my show to say he's sorry. It can sometimes be enraging when those who helped elect the authoritarian say they regret it. But it a good sign, as Trump flails big time. [Audio]
This is perfect and exactly how I feel! I have been so infuriated at those who decided not to listen to their own fellow Americans warnings and voted for tRump anyways! But, we are in a true constitutional crisis and couldn’t be closer to living an unimaginable existence under dictatorship! I have put my anger aside to save our country! We can discuss it after we win this fight…together! 🇺🇸
This is slightly off-topic, but the phrase "creating a constitutional crisis" caught my attention. I keep hearing about all these things that "could" or "will" lead to a constitutional crisis. When do we decide we're there and not just creeping up on a crisis? Are we truly not there yet? Or will we keep splitting hairs in order to avoid actually being there as if admitting the crisis is happening is a point of no return, but when we're just seeing it get closer, we still can prevent it?
It feels like semantics. We're there. End of story. Now what?
We are already past several Constitutional Crises. 1) Electing a felon to be Prez 2) Deporting innocent people to a torture prison 3) Ignoring Court orders. When will the orange criminal be held accountable and removed from office?? I know....only in my dreams.
the electing him to office is not against the constitution. Felons convicted may run for office. There was a man convicted and in prison ran his race from the prison cell. federal offices in elections do allow felons to run for office. 2 and 3 and DOGE and his appointing folks to do his bidding, the use of the DOJ for personal vendettas, deporting people without due process add to the state of constitutional crises.
James, according to Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution, a President must be a natural-born citizen, at least 35 years of age, and a resident of the US for at least 14 years.
Bear in mind, if you will, that these are the bare minimum requirements, not the maximum. Also, realize the fact that neither the founders, nor anyone else for that matter, envisioned that a convicted felon, or a prison inmate, would ever run for office, let alone win.
The sad fact is that now we have a terrorist in the White House....yes, I said terrorist. Legally, trump, or any other criminals, could run for office and win the election; but morally, it is still not right, regardless of what 77 million people think.
I understand what you are saying. I am only telling you it is leagal for convicted felons to run for office. Which unfortunately is why the US supreme court allowed him to remain on the ballot. The founders did envision someone like trump could win the presidency and that was why impeachment was written as a remedy for that very thing. Personally I did feel he should have not been able to run but laws are laws. I will say two more things. One I am a descendant of one of the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Gov Benjamin Harrison V. He had a relationship with one of the enslaved women on his plantation, Jenny Farley. They had a daughter who he named Sarah(yellow) in his will of 1781. She was born in 1774 on the Berkeley Plantation in Charles City Virginia. I had to prove it in 2011. I was able to because of his will and understood that a last will and testament is an attestation. he was being hounded and hunted by British soldiers in that year. He put Jenny Farley by her whole name in the will stating that she was the mother of Sarah(yellow). His naming her(yellow) was to say she was a daughter of mixed ethnicity. and he knew this personally because Jenny was enslaved and yellow meaning mulatto meant her father was white. Him writing that mean he was her father. Then in 1825 William Henry Harrison made a trip back to the Berkeley Plantation to see his sister Sarah. There was a legitimate Sarah Harrison born 1770 who later married John Minge and had 9 children dying in 1812. The only Sarah left who was on the plantation to be his sister to visit was Sarah(yellow). She was my 4th great paternal grandmother on my paternal grandmother's paternal line. the two of them having relations and producing Sarah(yellow) was against the laws set in Virginia by the House of Burgesses. But they did it. Because he was an aristocrat it is doubtful that he would be punished. When that law was written white people and Black people not being about to have sex with each other or marry in the late 1600's , a poor common white man in Virginia was in love with an Black woman and she may have been enslaved. when he was found with her, he was taken into the street and beaten. Many men of influence had children with women of Black ancestry and they weren't punished. 2 in 2020 I became a census taker for the federal census in Colorado where I live. after the training was completed we all made the oath to protect and defend the US Constitution from all enemies foreign and domestic. Saying those very words all of a sudden trump's face appeared in my mind's eye without me thinking about him before and dwelling on him. I understood that he was what would a a domestic enemy in that context. I can tell you it was an odd feeling but it confirmed what I knew. This 2.0 as people call it 2nd term is showing how much of an enemy he is to the constitution of the US. And that oath doesn't just go away after you say it or after the job you did is finished for which you took the oath. it is an oath to this country and the constitution. there are people today who run for office, local , state and federal who have criminal records who ran and did win their elections. But given the climate of the house and senate impeachment is the remedy but it is unlikely that it will be used to get rid of him.
The Pledge of Allegiance does similar, and how often have we all said it? Allegiances aren’t the same as oaths, but we are pledging to the country, not the president.
that is true the Pledge of Allegiance is a form of saying you pledge allegiance to this country. The Oath however is binding in different ways. I never new my dad took the oath as a soldier but he did and everytime someone does more service they do it again. I flet connected to my dad and all the people who meant what they said in that moment.
If our laws allow a convicted felon to run for and serve (if elected), then our laws need to be changed. But the convicted criminal must have a way to defend themselves when evidence against them is manufactured.
that will have to come from congress essentially. but given the climate it's not going to be anytime soon. an amendment would be better but again given the climate that is not happening
Our reputation has been irreparably damaged to the point where I would not blame any legitimate, decent government of another country for never trusting us again. We’ve proven to be unworthy of the world‘s respect. It absolutely breaks my heart.
I’m always happy to see and hear a person who has left the cult, but how will they vote in the midterms? What will they do now to fight against Felon47?
Why are we not hearing all the positive legislation the Biden administration did over 4 years with the economy, manufacturing, infrastructure? Democrats should be bragging about, and take pride in, what was accomplished and say it loudly on all the political shows.
The fact that Felon47 has basically told the Supremes to fuck off is extremely scary! That is our last resort when it comes to preserving the rights of all people who are in this country no matter their status. The MAGA cultists are being told that due process does not exist for people who are allegedly here illegally. That is a lie.
I was at the Bernie rally in LA on Saturday. There had to be more than 36,000 of us standing 4 hours in the hot sun. I attend every demonstration orchestrated in Orange County even though I am 84 and walk with a cane. I will be at the next event on 4/19/25 in San Clemente. I will never understand how people still support Trump unless they are just plain evil.
You should tell each and every one of these guys (and girls) you speak to who regret their vote for the Bloated Yam to devote their energy, money, and time to the resistance against him. Switch registration to Democratic. Raise funds. Go to rallies. Denounce the Bloated Yam.
The story that broke today on NPR regarding a whistleblower calling out Elonia and her DOGE creatures infiltrating, penetrating, and burglarizing majorly sensitive labor data from the National Labor Board of Review is terrifying. Everyone speaks of 'well will have to take over the Congress in 2026. How do we know we'll even have elections, with new legislation being passed in Congress to having to show proof of citizenship to vote? This Rocket Scientist guy may have 'woke' and wanted some airtime, but I don't care. I'm a Professor of Black Studies in a College of Ethnic Studies at a large University, I don't care about the whiny reawakenings of some rich old white man with patents changing his mind. Irreversible damage has been done, will continue to be done, and people are looking at the eyeballs of sleepy, privileged white folks as if they're going to help. They are going to take us away to foreign prisons without due process. Y'all know the "First they came" poem by Pastor Möller... SO... Well, Get Up and DO SOMETHING. Watching people wake up is not the thing... BITCH Slap em awake! and move on. Sorry Michaelangelo but... people are sleepier than ever. Polls Schmolls...
Nothing moves slower than waiting for JUSTICE to be served. I understand the need to fight fire with fire. Please, let's not become the same law-breaking felons that we are fighting.
I hope you don't think I'm being literal! I'm Black, and metaphor is an often-used device to inspire action. Was just talking to my students about how Martin Luther King and Gandhi moved the other's hate against them to win? They didn't know the answer. They had just quoted MLK and then asked the question, "What do you do when someone hits you?" I asked them what MLK taught those students in Greensboro, NC, when they did sit-ins and sustained unbelievable abuse? They didn't know. I answered: "Well, go find out. Answer your questions." Non-violence showcases the violence of the abuser.
I always appreciate listening to your audio recordings when you post them, Michelangelo. And I get that we should not alienate the people who are now in the "better late than never" stage of their newly acquired never Trumper political lives. But the one thing I can't wrap my head around is this:
People didn't vote for Hillary eight years ago because she was branded as "Crooked Hillary," even though she was only under investigation for crimes she didn't commit. Trump was actually convicted of 34 felonies, yet people still voted for him?
He also instigated a self-coup d'état against the United States of America, was impeached twice, stole classified documents and hid them in a bathroom at his fleabag motel, tried to rig elections in Georgia, Arizona, Nevada, New Mexico, Michigan, Wisconsin, and Pennsylvania using fake electors, was arrested four times, ultimately charged with 91 felonies, found guilty of raping a woman in her dressing room at Bergdorf Goodman's, found guilty of defrauding the state of New York of over $500 million, had a sham charity shut down for good for self-dealing, six bankruptcies (of casinos!), more failed businesses than you could shake a stick at, and a bogus university for which he paid $25 million to the people he defrauded.
Oh, and he also cheated on absolutely everything from wives to taxes to golf, and presided over the most colossally inept response to a global pandemic in the entire world, one that ended up killing over one million Americans, and yet people voted for him . . . Again? WTAF.
I wonder how many of these people such as the author profited off of anti-wokeism and at the same time influenced people to vote for Trump. "sorry" doesnt cut it
It's my view that a powerful message to former Trump supporters should be a call to action: unite with us to support democracy. Business as usual is not an option for our country. The foundation needs some repair---and we're calling all patriots. We need to join forces with Republicans and Independents. Democrats will hopefully take the lead---but we need to hear the concerns of the other side as well. Strive for a healthy middle ground. That's where America needs to go next: for a blending of ideas that avoids the extremes.
Let's find out what motivated young people to vote for Trump something we didn't do in 2016 when Progressives who didn't like Hillary made the dumbest mistake of their lives. Common wisdom among the righties and the lefties was Hillary was such a bad candidate the only real choice was to hand the Presidency to Trump and wait until next time. I need to be convinced this won't happen again after the repeat of 2016 in 2024. VOTE TO SOP EVIL.! PLEASE!
DO NOT agree that DJT was a better choice than Hillary! Talking about insanity! Sounds like you have been watch the liars on FOX too much, or hate spewers like Alex Jones.
I am talking about Progressives failing to vote to STOP TRUMP and that Progressive ignorance put Trump in the Whitehouse, get it? The fact that I HATE TRUMP is the reason I am so pissed at the Progressives who could have stopped him but didn't TWICE!! I bet you don't even realize that not voting or not voting for the Democrat causes TRUMP TO WIN. I was sarcastically imagining the mind set of THOSE WHO LET TRUMP WIN by not voting or voting for Stein. Maybe you can tell me what he thought processes behind LETTING TRUMP WIN through inaction or ignorant choices were.
All well and good that some are coming to their senses. There is, with people like Mike, a real chance in the mid-terms, but a coronary is probably the best way to end the nightmare. Only, then we'd be stuck with numbnuts Vance and hapless Johnson, who haven't a clue on running a government. Perhaps some of the Repugs in the Senate will agree to the 25th amendment to save their jobs, you know, no more rule of law, who needs lawyers?
This is perfect and exactly how I feel! I have been so infuriated at those who decided not to listen to their own fellow Americans warnings and voted for tRump anyways! Our reputation has been irreparably damaged to the point where I would not blame any legitimate, decent government of another country for never trusting us again. We’ve proven to be unworthy of the world‘s respect. It absolutely breaks my heart.
If you read the European and other foreign financial blogs, that’s when you’ll start freaking. They don’t trust us anymore.
Its the constitution in name only. The country is at the mercy of the garks.

His tacky redecorating of the White House should be added to all the other grounds for impeachment. So much tacky gold shit! Ugh!
White trash is what white trash does!
