You hit all the points on your analysis, Michelangelo. We need the Dems to embrace Progressives! The stale old shit is not going to move the needle and will turn off younger voters, as well as older Boomers, like myself, who want a return to a government of laws. Laws are being trampled on and destroyed, exactly like on January 6, and our rights are being removed before our very eyes. The graft and corruption in this administration are astounding. It fairly boggles my mind. A change is needed, and I promise, it's not going to come from Schumer and Pelosi.

You're right. The old Dems need to GO. We need young blood with new ideas. I like David Hogg's group, Leaders We Deserve. A chance for young, progressive Democrats to show what they will do for Americans. Of course, Billionaires might not like them, but who cares about Billionaires? They have more money than they can ever spend!

Trump's afraid because Mamdani might be well-liked by New Yorkers. It could also make the Democratic Party realize they are losing because they are not offering what people want. I'm pro-Mamdani.

The Siena College poll released today shows Mamdani leading by 19 points over Cuomo, 44 percent to 25 percent. GOP nominee Curtis Sliwa was way behind with 12 percent, and incumbent Mayor Eric Adams scored in the single digits with just 7 percent.

Cuomo aligning himself with Trump is not going to overcome a 19-point deficit.

Fingers crossed for Mamdani. The other candidates are worthless.

Populism, you could say, is what got tRump elected last year, so I would say that is the most likely way to go. Out with the old and in with the new. They keep talking about the Fed cutting interest rates because they KNOW where his tariff crap is heading...into another depression. Tariffs caused the 'great' one, we are most likely on the way and his rich friends are definitely juicing the market. What goes up, must come down, sadly for the rest of us.

Brilliant analysis, Mamdami should be embraced by all Democrats, particularly those sitting on their hands in Congress. I do worry about his safety from MAGA extremists and other crazy people who will do just about anything to prevent the progressive left from succeeding.

Beautifully said! NYC just the place to take on the DJT cult. Democrats need to realize there ARE more of us. We are the populists.

"But as we all know, Trump doesn’t have 'concern' for any person, place or thing except himself." You are so correct on this, Michael. And I believe it's something that we as Democrats need to keep foremost in our minds.

I read Mariah Burton Nelson on substack, who has fully documented for me the problems with men participating in women’s sports, which is much more widespread than we have been told. With the exception of that issue, I agree with every word of your column.
