Today, the fifth public hearing of the January 6th select committee gets underway. And there are signs that the GOP is worried. Several Republicans in the House are second-guessing House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy’s decision not to put members on the panel to defend Donald Trump — and Trump is whining about it too!
Meanwhile, the Department of Justice expanded its investigation, looking at the fake elector scheme — the focus of the last hearing — and issuing subpoenas to MAGA operatives in several states.
This all tells me the committee is having great success — and the ratings and polling show it — and that’s putting the GOP on edge and pressuring the DOJ to show it is acting on what the public is seeing.
