Oh yes, she has made a great choice!! He couldn't come from a more different place than her, but together they check ALL the boxes for balanced leadership and like-minded views on the critical issues such as abortion, LGBTQ+, climate change, etc. This also shows voters that two very diverse people can unite and provide the degree of leadership and inclusion that this country SO desperately needs right now. They are setting the example as to what REAL leadership is here, unlike Trump and his horrible VP who can't even go one day without offending someone! I also love that Walz is from middle america as well - it gives them such an edge, whereas Trump tried to pull this idea off with Mr Appalacian and it backfired because Vance is clearly pretending to be something he is not. LOL I also did not know this about Walz but he is a 28-year Veteran of national guard , earning the highest level of Sargeant Major I believe, which is commendable and checks the veteran box as well. I'm looking forward to him defending against Trump! I'm SO excited!

Republicans are not prepared for Walz being the nominee—they assumed Shapiro would be chosen and trained all their fire on Shapiro. It’s going to be hard for Republicans to pivot in time to attacking Walz, just as it has been hard for Republicans to pivot to attacking Harris. I have a feeling Harris-Walz are going to break more records in fundraising and poll numbers in the coming weeks! Walz is going to just add to the unprecedented momentum Harris is experiencing, which now has a good chance of carrying Harris and Walz right through election day. Shapiro was the safer bet based on protecting Pennsylvania in the event of a closely tied election, but Walz is the bolder bet, with a much greater likelihood of sweeping all swing states and maybe even picking up a red state or two!

Trump and Vance look, smell and exude loserism and down right jealousy (losing, losing, losing) 🤣

This Kamala Removes Tough Orange Stains shirt it's so damn funny! 👇🤣

I was a Mark Kelly hopeful, but I understand the assignment, so now I need to get to know Tim Waltz. I’m happy the anticipation is over and now it’s time to move on to the convention.

I hear you, Donna, as a fellow Arizonan I have lots of respect for Mark. And, I'm relieved that we get to keep him here where as a Democrat he's desperately needed.

Picking a running mate IS the first Presidential-level decision a candidate makes. Reminds my of why, though I certainly admired him and was open to hear what John McCain had to say (though I MAY not have voted for him) the 1st time I saw Sarah Palin I thought, “Sorry Senator McCain, you flunked your 1st test. And it was a very important one.”

Nella DeCesare's avatar

I have to say, Martha... you're 100% right and I also remember the John McCain reference! I really liked both John McCain and Obama, but that VP pick of Palin was the deciding factor for me too! She was so limited and shallow that I could not even imagine her being in the white house. Great reference! I think the VP pick matters more to folks than one might think!

You both do realize that ifs John McCain had won in 2008, there would be no marriage equality, right?

Well, I ended up voting for Obama anyway and I obviously support marriage equality 100% so you have nothing to worry about. LOL

I am SO down for this!! LET'S GO Tim Walz!!! 😄🔥👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾

Another thing that I dig about Walz is that he's a white people chameleon - a white man (or woman) who can blend in with average, everyday white folks because he looks harmless and milk toasty, but is actually a pretty hardcore (and unapologetic!) progressive. He can get away with looking like somebody's conservative golf buddy while actually being a left wing rabble rouser 😂

I also love the defiance Kamala is showing with this choice. Everybody, especially the media, was so sure she'd go with a "safer" choice like Shapiro or Kelly who might have given her some brownie points with AZ or PA voters, but my girl said "The answer is no" and chose someone who would appeal to her progressive base over someone who we'd accept but wouldn't necessarily like. She's so freaking SMART!

Y'all I'm so here for ALL of this!! 😂

I agree with you Michelangelo. What a great time right now! I am sooooo relieved right now about our government but we do have to make sure there are no voting crimes.... Certifying the votes from red states is priority.. Mark Ellias needs our support.

Toni, yes we need to put those MAGA election deniers who are in county electoral positions on notice by inundating their offices & their superiors with letters condemning any thoughts of denying us our democratic voting choice in the Nov.5th election. It’s, We the People, who will force the will of the vote to ensure that our vote counts and is certified.

I'll say it over and over, I AM SO GLAD BIDEN STEPPED DOWN! I love listening to her talk! She is smart. And Tim Walz, hot damn! Look, I'm not saying the they are anti-capitalist, BUT I am ready to rock this campaign. Plus, Trump and Vance are so fucking stuuuuupid, it's going to be fun to promote the vote!!!!

Kamala Harris’s judgement and decision making are strong and sharp; once again, she has not disappointed. She’s just so impressive!!!

Tim Walz is a great choice. He’s a progressive, decent, “people” person who will motivate many voters to support the KH/TW team. I also think selecting Tim Walz shows a lot of confidence bc she feels PA, as close as it is, will go blue, especially with Shapiro acting as a strong surrogate.

Drumpf/Vance is tired, worn and whiny, while Harris/Walz is fresh, hopeful and ready to get work done for ALL Americans.

I’m a big fan of my state’s governor Josh Shapiro but the selection of Tim Walz is brilliant. He was a teacher, a long-time member of the military (with a higher rank than Vance), he’s strongly pro-union and pro-choice and he’s a straight talking regular guy. Can’t wait to vote for this ticket!

Harris is on the right path to being our President after this clever VP pick.. We need to attack on social media etc. the distorted definition of “progressive” that the Trump/Vance wants to use to scare voters off from Waltz. If feeding needy children, looking after & listening to your constituents, being a hunter, a veteran, a teacher, a decent common sense man who sincerely cares about veterans’ issues and people, then we need to push “progressive” into the MAGA faces & promote the“progressive “ label via Waltz’s qualities. Waltz’s label of “weird” to depict Trump/Vance was a clever description.

As a progressive who owns firearms, yes. You can own weapons and still believe in reproductive rights, LBGQT rights, free college tuition, school lunches for all kids, paid family leave, common sense gun legislation, renewable energy, climate protection, unions, public transportation, voting reforms, taxing corporations, eliminating Citizens United, separation of church and state, SCOTUS reform, and much more. There are many of us who live in rural America, are responsible gun owners, and who believe in the vision Harris/Walz have for our nation. This was Kamala’s first executive decision and I felt unsure (as I knew very little about Tim Walz) but I’m a believer! Great choice, future Madame President! Such joy!!
