We know who JD Vance is. We know what he will do. He MUST NOT be allowed access to power. It's shameful that these people are able to be given the opportunity to engage and have any success in an attempt to get elected in this country. The American people who do not turn away from these egregious, completely dishonest and void of ethics, seditious hateful, are not thinking with any level of effort or honesty. The press has given nothing but protective cover for these dangerous actors at every opportunity that should have been used to expose them with the plethora of evidence as to the threat to the people these thugs are. We will beat them at the polls!

Vance claimed that there was a "peaceful transfer of power" on 1/20/21. When in reality up to that point there was no peaceful or even cordial transfer of power. It is traditional when a new president is going to take office, the outgoing president invites the new president to the WH. That didn't happen with Trump and Biden. Also, the outgoing presidential staff coordinates with the new president's staff prior to the inauguration so that the new president's administration can take off running on the first day. Trump's staff were expressly forbidden from coordinating with Biden's staff.
The orange criminal never even conceded the election. Vance, if he were VP, wouldn't have certified the election as Pence did. Trump/Vance are a dangerous duo.
I don't care how "slick" and together Vance sounded because everything out of his mouth was just lie after lie. Just because he said it with a smile and confidence doesn't make it true. After this debate, all we learned is that JD Vance is a trained monkey for Trump and does it very well. Walz is transparent, authetic and doesn't lie. That's all I need to know. Lots of missed opportunities by Tim Walz. A simple pushback on Vance being a never Trumper (“you called your running mate Hitler”) would suffice. Normalizing and sanewashing Vance by finding places to “agree” was not the Tim Walz we’ve been so impressed with. Hopefully, Americans will clearly see Tim Walz is the honest guy while Vance is the slick Drumpf wannabe.
Thanks for the great analysis, Michelangelo. I did find some missed opportunities. One was from Walz when Vance tried to argue that Republicans are not radical on abortion and contraception. Walz could have reminded us that the congressional Republicans blocked a bill supporting IVF, and Vance himself didn't even show up to vote. The other from CBS, which led off with questions about the expanding war between Israel and Hamas, but failed to ask abut the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The failure of Trump and Vance to support Ukraine and stop Putin should have been a debate topic.
Happily, climate change was the second question, instead of the last, as in the presidential debate. Of course, climate was MIA in all of the previous debates. While Trump was allowed to divert completely and fail to confirm or deny climate science (what Walz would call "a damning non-answer"), Vance was a little slicker. He talked abut reducing carbon emissions and not denying climate science. He didn't say he accepted it either. He just went on like Trump about clean air and water. I would tell Vance and Trump, "Yes, tell us in California about clean air, as we breathe the smoke filled air that comes from forest fires fueled by a warming climate." Maybe that was another Walz missed opportunity.
What really annoyed me was Vance continually referring to Trump as “wise”. I expect the idea was to counter his age, but wise is the opposite of Trump. Impetuous and deeply stupid is closer.
I hope the Democrats take the next 30 days to hammer home Trump’s slow-motion response to January 6 insurrection, his determination to pardon those who inflicted injuries and death on police officers in the storming of the Capitol to hurt or kill their enemies and stop the certification of the 2020 election, and that a Trump win would be nothing like his first term, as he will only have people around him like his running mate, who said he would have refused to certify Biden’s win. Trump/Vance is too dangerous to our government and country! That should be the unending message from now to Election Day.
