Today is not a day to fret or feel dread, even as we worry about polling error. I feel good, and you should too.
Tens of millions of people have already voted in the midterms, and millions more will vote today, while Donald Trump closed out the midterms at the reflecting pool yesterday, bragging about his disastrous remodeling projects. Totally tone deaf.
People have had it. The early vote and the polls show Democrats surging, as well as independents. Of course, polls can be wrong, and the early vote only tells us so much.
But it’s pretty clear that Democrats are going to win the House. It would take a polling error the likes of which we’ve never seen for that not to happen. And they have several paths to winning the Senate.
A little over a year ago, we didn’t think either might happen. So, even if Democrats only take the House today, consider it a massive win and a step toward bringing MAGA and Trump down.
There will be investigations. There will be accountability. Sure, Democrats might win the House by only a few seats, rather than a lot. But those investigations will still happen. And if they win by a lot, it will put enormous pressure on the GOP, who will be greatly diminished in their ability to defend Trump.

That is going to happen, and consider it a win, coming after enormous organizing.
And if Democrats win the Senate, it means more and bigger investigations, even if they win with only one or two seats to spare. And if it’s as the polls show, with 52 seats or more (not having to worry about John Fetterman), it’s certainly about stopping Trump from appointing extremist judges—and even replacing a Supreme Court justice at all.
So, there is no reason to fret about the vote. It’s a matter of how big, not about whether it will happen.
And then, yes, it’s about stopping Donald Trump from interfering in the election. But the courts have so far pushed him back, including the Supreme Court in a first test yesterday regarding ballots in California. We’re ready for that fight.
So take a deep breath and try to soak it all in as we take on authoritarianism and watch MAGA crumble.

Thanks for helping to calm my nerves today, Michelangelo. I am not watching or listening to any coverage on MSNOW tonight, even though I love Rachel and Lawrence. I will tune in to your show today, as always. I may then keep listening once Dean comes on, but I doubt it. I think that I will wait until tomorrow to see how things are turning out, unless hubby spills the beans first.
Sorry can’t help it. I still fret! And today will be the first time in 2 years I will turn on TV news. Will watch MSNow. Fortunately got lots to do today, cat to vet this morning and new carpet being installed in guest bedroom this afternoon. So about 5 our time will be tuning in. Hope to see a bunch of blue on the board. And I hope we see some state races too. Joe is always telling us how far behind the Dems have been on state races, hope we are starting to catch up. That’s our farm system.
