Tucker Carlson's obsession with secretly gay war-mongering GOP senators
Who could he possibly be talking about?
Senators Lindsay Graham and Tim Scott of South Carolina, Senator Bernie Moreno of Ohio in the middle.
In a conversation with the horribly homophobic, transphobic Matt Walsh, the horribly homophobic, transphobic Tucker Carlson let loose on the percentage of “war-mongering” senators who are gay, per his Instagram.
“What percentage of war-crazed Republican senators are secretly gay? What is that?” he asked Walsh, who played dumb, though he probably knows who Carlson is talking about.
Carlson’s motives for teasing or exposing such senators are, of course, stewing in homophobia. He’s implying people with a secret can’t be trusted, and he’s not wrong, as many closet cases in the GOP do a lot of damage as they try to cover for themselves while hurting their own kind.
But Carlson, of course, doesn’t care about the dangers of the closet because these people hurt LGBTQ rights. So he’s just using our argument about closet cases for his own cause. And I've reported on Carlson’s own pathological obsession with homosexuality, which includes a long history of homophobia and transphobia, and violent rhetoric and outbursts. He surely doth protest too much, and is also wildly preoccupied with masculinity.
Whatever his motives, however, my response to hearing Carlson ask this question is: Name names Tucker! You seem to intimately know the details, so share them with the rest of us.
We all know Carlson is surely referring to the two senators from South Carolina, Lindsay Graham, and Tim Scott. The discussion of both senators’ sexuality has been covered—on-again, off-again—for years. Scott recently raised a lot of speculation again when he announced in 2023 he was running for president in 2024.

A Washington Post story—“Tim Scott’s Girlfriend”—delved deeply into Scott’s claim of having a girlfriend and how those close to him knew nothing about her and Scott wouldn’t let the reporter speak with her either. This came months after Axios asked Scott about the possibility of being a bachelor president. (Eventually Scott brought forth the woman he said was his girlfriend, and announced during the primary campaign that he was going to marry her, which he did in 2024.)
And the Lindsay Graham stories have surfaced repeatedly for more than a decade. Just last September, MAGA extremist and Trump confidant Laura Loomer focused on them.
“Lindsey Graham has never been loyal to President Trump,” Loomer wrote on X, adding, “When is Lindsey coming out of the closet? We all know you’re gay, Lindsey… and that’s ok.”
So those two are not a surprise.
But did Carlson also mean to point a finger at Senator Tom Cotton of Arkansas, too?
Those rumors go back a long time, to when Cotton, as a state legislator, was first running for the Senate in 2014, and had what seemed like a quickie marriage—an unannounced wedding to someone few apparently had heard about before, with his office releasing few details after the fact. The speculation reached such a fever pitch that Cotton became the target of an April Fool’s prank, in which he was noted to have come out as “ex-gay,” to where Snopes had to refute it in 2017.
And did Carlson mean to include one of the newest MAGA GOP senators, Bernie Moreno of Ohio?
Married to a woman and the father of a gay son, Moreno, who'd built a car dealership empire, had been been a supporter of LGBTQ rights—until he became a MAGA crusader to secure Donald Trump’s endorsement. Last year, amid the campaign, Moreno worried many in the GOP over fears he was linked to a gay sex website, revealed by the AP:
Ahead of Tuesday’s primary election, there’s mounting anxiety inside the GOP that Bernie Moreno may emerge with the nomination. After vaulting into the top tier of contenders with a coveted endorsement from Donald Trump, Moreno — who has shifted from a public supporter of LGBTQ rights to a hardline opponent — is confronting questions about the existence of a 2008 profile seeking “Men for 1-on-1 sex” on a casual sexual encounters website called Adult Friend Finder.
“Hi, looking for young guys to have fun with while traveling,” reads a caption on a photo-less profile under the username “nardo19672,” according to an Associated Press review of records made public through a massive and well-publicized data breach of the website. Records also show the profile was last accessed about six hours after it was created.
The AP review confirmed that someone with access to Moreno’s email account created the profile, though the AP could not definitively confirm whether it was created by Moreno himself. Questions about the profile have circulated in GOP circles for the past month. On Thursday evening, two days after the AP first asked Moreno’s campaign about the account, the candidate’s lawyer said a former intern created the account as a prank. The lawyer provided a statement from the intern, Dan Ricci, who said he created the account as “part of a juvenile prank.”
Okay, whatever. I’m not sure that explanation would satisfy Tucker Carlson, who could also have been talking about other senators, too, and appears to know the details. After all, he seems to think it’s a huge “percentage” of “war-crazed” senators who are “secretly gay.” Way back there were stories about Senator John Barrasso of Wyoming and even Mitch McConnell himself, both claims made by indefatigable activist Mike Rogers, who has never been proven wrong on his many outings of closeted politicians, some of whom resigned in scandal.
So Tucker, please name names! Inquiring minds want to know.
I am so sick of right wingers who expect everyone to be a clone. Why do "real" men need to be fire-breathing, angry, gun-toting, homophobic jack asses? The diversity of people is a beautiful experience. Same for women....let them be who they are! I have a diversity of friends, 2 gay children, and a happy life. Keep fighting! Never accept a homogenized, pasteurized society.
Brings to mind J Edgar Hoover and Roy Cohn.
