This week we saw Donald Trump’s self-proclaimed most important nominee to his cabinet—Matt Gaetz as attorney general—crash and burn. It was a dismal failure for Trump—and I don’t believe any claims that it was all planned—and a gift to Democrats. No matter what the GOP does with any other nominee, this disaster has made the public pay attention, seeing Trump’s incompetence and horrendous decisions out of the gate. Surely TV network executives believed that Trump was going to bring back their ratings bonanza—some have even discussed this in the past—but so far it’s one big dud as people tune out. CNN and MSNBC saw their ratings plummet after the election, continuing right through all the Gaetz high drama. Over the past two weeks I took a lot of calls on my SiriusXM program on the topic of Thanksgiving and MAGA family, and just the upheaval the election has caused in general. There were some heartbreaking stories from people leaving their spouses, and others worried about their children. And there were many people who said there’s no way they’re spending Thanksgiving with MAGA relatives, having changed plans.
