President Biden kicked off his campaign with a focus on the threat to democracy, which will be a major issue of his 2024 campaign. He’s spoken before about democracy under assault. But this time, he took the gloves off and went straight for Donald Trump. It was a blistering, searing speech. And I’m betting it caught a lot of the GOP off guard—though it shouldn’t have—and let them know Trump will be a ball and chain around their necks once again.
