Weekend Report: What's going on?
Joe Biden incinerates Trump in speech. Supreme Court will decide if Trump remains on ballot. MAGA is actually now celebrating January 6th.
President Biden kicked off his campaign with a focus on the threat to democracy, which will be a major issue of his 2024 campaign. He’s spoken before about democracy under assault. But this time, he took the gloves off and went straight for Donald Trump. It was a blistering, searing speech. And I’m betting it caught a lot of the GOP off guard—though it shouldn’t have—and let them know Trump will be a ball and chain around their necks once again.

Today is, of course, an infamous day in American history, the third anniversary of the January 6th insurrection. None of us should be surprised that many in the GOP went from condemning what was happening to now actually celebrating the criminals who engaged in an attack on the country, with one member of Congress having planned a celebratory event. Truly sick, and a sign of just how completely immersed in a cult of violence the party is, with Trump as their leader.
