Weekend Report: What's going on?
Trump's batshit crazy rambling getting more attention. Record number of Americans support abortion rights and are voting on it. The RNC's desperate deep-fake videos of Biden.
We’ve seen Donald Trump in recent months appear more off the rails and nonsensical than in the past, particularly when the teleprompter craps out at his rallies. But this week the topic received a lot more attention as reports of meetings with members of Congress describe him as bizarre, rambling and off-message—and even doing himself some campaign damage. Then CEOs who met with Trump this week, some of whom were Trump-friendly going in, came out of the meeting bewildered, according to one report, describing him as “remarkably meandering” and describing themselves as “less predisposed” to support him.
A record number of Americans say they will only vote for a candidate who supports abortion rights, certainly giving Democrats and President Biden a big boost heading into the election. And the truly scurrilous deep-fake videos pushed out by the Republican National Committee and right-wing news outlets show a GOP that is getting increasingly desperate. Videos clipped to show President Biden wandering around or freezing up, attempting to portray him as senile, proved the point that Republicans have to actually doctor videos of Biden, while Democrats need only let people see Trump for himself. These videos were watched by millions and surely can do a lot of damage. But at least the effort has been flagged as fake by much of the rest of the media, exposing the GOP’s lies.
