SCOTUS schedule could have Trump on trial in last months of the election. Contrary to what you're being to told, Democrats really like Biden. Feds investigate death of non-binary student in Oklahoma.
It was enraging to see the Supreme Court putting its finger on the scale this week for Donald Trump, taking up his immunity claim on appeal, and helping him to run out the clock. Arguments will not be heard until April 26th. But will that really mean the trial is put off until after the election? The DOJ has clarified that its guidelines regarding the 60-day window before an election pertain to filing charges and starting investigations, not to scheduling trials. That could actually be worse for Trump if a conviction happens in the final weeks of the election.
In most of the corporate media coverage—and breathless polls, including yet another one from the New York Times today—we’re led to believe that Republicans are unified behind Trump while Democrats are divided on President Biden. But all of the data—including real-world elections, not just polls—actually shows it’s the other way around. Democrats overwhelmingly like the job Joe Biden is doing, haven’t clamored for a replacement, and are united against Trump. We’ll look at the evidence.
And it was great to see that the Department of Education is investigating the Oklahoma school district in a suburb of Tulsa, where non-binary student Nex Benedict tragically died the day after suffering a head injury while being bullied and assaulted in the girl’s bathroom in their school. Local politicians have promoted an environment of hate—and seem fine with it, even if it resulted in death—as the state has passed draconian anti-trans laws, including bathroom regulations, in schools.
