The Supreme Court allowed Trump’s sentencing in New York to move forward. But four justices were ready to kill it, even though he wasn’t being sentenced to anything. What does that tell us about the future?
Democrats are racing to support a so-called immigration bill—the Laken Riley Act—that is all about demonizing immigrants and bowing to Trump and the GOP. But though it advanced, clearing the 60-vote threshold to begin debate, pressure is building among those in the base of the party.
Meta isn’t just dropping fact-checking and sucking up to Trump. It’s allowing for hate speech against LGBTQ people and others. Some scenarios surfaced from internal documents regarding what would be allowed on the platform. Saying “white people have mental illness” will not be allowed on Facebook, but saying that “gay people have mental illness” is perfectly okay. So is saying, ““A trans person isn’t a he or she, it’s an it.”
