Trump plans massive military parade for birthday. Judge stops Trump's extortion of law firm. AOC, Wisconsin governor say "bring it on" after threats of arrest by Trump border czar.
In another sign of his authoritarian presidency, Trump is planning his long-dreamed military parade to celebrate his birthday, with thousands of troops marching through Washington as tanks and military vehicles are rolled out. It’s coming at a massive cost, contradicting Trump’s claim of creating “government efficiency” and as he’s planning further cuts to vital programs. It’s all under the guise of the celebration the 250th anniversary of the U.S. Army.
In a scathing ruling a federal judge permanently stopped the Trump administration from extorting the law firm Perkins Coie, as he’s done with other firms, punishing them for representing perceived enemies, and causing some to cave and cut deals with him. The judge called it “an unprecedented attack” on the importance of independent lawyers, and not only slammed the administration but pointed to how the law firms that cut deals are compromised.
After the outrageous arrest of a Wisconsin judge, claiming she was obstructing the detention of an undocumented immigrant, Trump’s border czar Tom Homan is threatening action against politicians who’ve made sure immigrants know their rights under the law, claiming that they are “impeding” justice. Targeting Rep. Alexandria Ocasio Cortez, she responded to Homan, “Do I look like I care?” while Governor Tony Evers of Wisconsin similarly pushed back, daring Homan to take action.
