Weekend Report: What's happening?
Trump forces resignation of US attorney who won't charge his opponents. Too many Democrats vote to honor Kirk, fearing violence. Hamburger Helper sales surge as many Americans can't afford meat.
Donald Trump had handpicked U.S. Attorney Erik S. Siebert for the Eastern District of Virginia, to be one of those getting retribution for his perceived enemies. But, In yet another alarm act of authoritarianism, after Siebert couldn’t find enough evidence to charge New York Attorney General Letitia James and former FBI director James Comey, Trump has forced him to resign, looking to replace him with someone who will get him retribution.
It's appalling that Democrats in the House and Senate voted for a resolution marking a “Day Of Remembrance” of Charlie Kirk. While many in the House walked out or voted present, 95 Democrats voted yes. Some claimed they voted only to stand against political violence and not the part that honors Kirk’s legacy, while others actually admitted they were afraid of violence and threats against them. This seems like putting a sign up saying they’re open to extortion.
