Weekend Report: What's happening?
Trump's closing argument is as bizarro as ever. Mike Johnson blurts out he'll kill Obamacare and Chips Act, helping Democrats. Both Johnson and Trump are readying to overturn the election.
Donald Trump’s week has been the most bizarre closing act for any campaign. From his Madison Square Garden racist rally and his threat to Liz Cheney to his rage toward women and his simulating oral sex with a microphone onstage, he’s experiencing a lot of self-inflicted wounds.
Hapless House Speaker Mike Johnson, too, appears to be torpedoing the chances of House Republicans. First he blurted out “No Obamacare,” announcing he’d dramatically reform the Affordable Care Act—and then tried to walk it back. Then he said he’d look to repeal the Chips and Science Act while campaigning for an embattled Republican in a district in which the law signed by President Biden created thousands of jobs, which was a gift to Democrats looking to unseat GOP incumbents.
Trump and Johnson might not seem to be that concerned if Trump actually loses because they’re planning on challenging the results no matter what, already laying the groundwork for attempting to overturn the election.
