In a nutshell, 44 days before Election Day the Republican Party is dealing with crises while Democrats are unified and on message. Of course, that doesn’t mean the GOP can’t or won’t win up and down the ballot, as races are tight. But not being in disarray is a good place for Democrats to be. Looking at the presidential race, we see a candidate, Donald Trump, who is outspent dramatically and faltering in his appearances—and not really campaigning much and where he needs to be—as the campaign of his opponent, Kamala Harris, is using the wads of cash it has raised to reach voters in powerful, innovative ways…
The GOP in North Carolina and beyond is reeling after the revelations about Mark Robinson, the extremist and Christian nationalist candidate for governor who was revealed by CNN to have posted sexually lurid and racist stuff on a porn web site. As more comes out and as Robinson has refused to step down, fears grow among Republicans that he could hurt the GOP up and down the ballot, including in the presidential race where Trump, who has embraced Robinson, is tied in the state with Karris. And that could cost Trump the election…
But as Republicans become more desperate, they become more dangerous, and that’s certainly true of Trump. Yesterday the MAGA-packed Georgia State Election Board voted to require hand counts in Georgia, an action that could delay Georgia's certification of its electoral college votes and create the kind of turmoil in the presidential election that’s meant to hand Trump the presidency…
