This week JD Vance caused lots of talk at the Turning Point USA event when he embraced Erica Kirk, Charlie Kirk’s widow, the way he might jump on a couch. The photos went viral with lots of speculation. But the bigger uproar came from Indian-Americans and many others after Vance said he was trying to convert his Indian Hindu wife, Usha, to Christianity.

Vance also is at the center of an antisemitic GOP meltdown that threatens the MAGA movement. Tucker Carlson interviewed Nick Fuentes, giving a platform to an avowed Nazi and white supremacist. That was too far even for many in MAGA, from Ted Cruz to Mike Huckabee, who spoke out, after see others being chastized for infringing on free speech by Kevin Roberts, who heads the Heritage Foundation, and called the critics of Carlson a “venomous coalition.” A MAGA civil war over accepting a Holocaust denier. Who could have imagined?

He’s freaking over the Obamacare premiums rising—as if no one told him that would happen—and called on the GOP to end the filibuster and open the government. This only exposed how the GOP—whose leaders immediately said they would not kill the filibuster — can in fact open the government if it wants but would rather blame the Democrats. They, too, are frustrated, having expected the Democrats to cave by now.
