Weekend thread: What's going on?
Biden will not negotiate with terrorists in the GOP. Supreme Court claims it can't find leaker, but justices not made to sign sworn affidavits. It's clear George Santos was a drag queen.
As the the GOP has threatened to send the global economy into catastrophe by refusing to raise the debt ceiling unless they get massive spending cuts, many have wondered what Democrats will do. They’ve been firm but we know they can wobble. Will they cave and find some kind of “compromise,” and allow the GOP to make hostage-taking a success?
The White House so far isn’t budging, including according to the latest report. The president is remaining firm, and will force the GOP to back down. And that’s how it should be — even as the media continues to play “both sides” and unwarranted pressure builds on Democrats.
The investigation undertaken by the Supreme Court to find out who leaked a draft of the Dobbs decision overturning Roe v. Wade months before it was ready turned up nothing. And that has caused an uproar because investigators claim to have done a thorough investigation, having dozens of clerks and Supreme Court employees sign sworn affidavits. There was initially no indication in the report that the justices or their spouses were interviewed. This raised a lot of speculation on Thursday.
Now the court’s marshal says she did speak with the justices, and believes she clarified the situation. But did the justices sign affidavits and did she check their electronic devices, as she did with the employees? Nope.
And George Santos, the GOP’s disgraceful fabricator, now seems to have done something that may finally reach the limit for the GOP. Lying and stealing is acceptable in the GOP. But evidence Santos was a drag queen sent him into a frenzy of denial, knowing the GOP has gone to the mat against cross-dressing. And now more evidence of it — and a new video — appear to show it’s undeniable.
