Weekend thread: What's going on?
Great wins keep coming for Democrats. GOP totally in chaos, recriminations. Trump is melting down, again.
It’s been an amazing week as we still, as of this writing at noon Eastern Time, don’t know which party will control the Senate or the House.
Senator Mark Kelly last night was declared the winner in Arizona, and we’re waiting on Nevada returns. Democrats are confident about Senator Catherine Cortez Masto, who keeps narrowing the gap. It could be announced that Democrats officially retain control of the Senate by the end of the day. And there are other important big wins too!
Republicans are completely depressed. They had really believed their own bullshit, and have to face the fact that election denial is a big loser and abortion rights is a big winner. And yet, they’ve now spent two years convincing their base that the 2020 election was stolen, and they can’t get the Supreme Court to put Roe v. Wade back in the bottle.
They’re pointing fingers, blaming one another in angry outbursts. And even Donald Trump is getting slammed. He in turn has had an ongoing meltdown all week, embroiled in perhaps the most dire situation he’s had to face, and lashing out at other Republicans.
