The missing Secret Service emails appear to be the tip of the iceberg, as more emails from Department of Homeland Security officials in the Trump administration on the days surrounding the attack on the Capitol are reported “missing” or “destroyed” accidentally. And now it appears the DHH inspector general, who was investigating the Secret Service for the past year — and was also appointed by Trump — neglected to demand the missing texts and emails.

Meanwhile, Governor Ron Desantis, showing that he is the fascist-in-waiting to replace Donald Trump, is moving further on attacking drag shows — and LGBTQ people and culture. Citing a restaurant where a drag performer on video was seen holding the hand of a little girl, he’s now using a court ruling from 1947 banning “men impersonating women” which could effectively take away the liquor licenses of clubs and restaurants. If you think he’s not gunning for broad laws regulating culture and imposing a Christian nationalist morality you are not paying attention.

And just as we’re all celebrating Joe Manchin getting aboard the massive budget reconciliation bill that will create groundbreaking programs to combat climate change, comes word that Senator Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona is studying all 700-odd pages, hasn’t given her support and may have own problems with it. Will she doom the planet?
