I saw what Clyburn said over the weekend. Honestly, it's time for him to retire. This is a classic 1980s Dem strategy, which isn't going to work with an obvious mob boss. If the Dems don't start throwing SERIOUSLY HARD political punches, they probably won't have jobs in a few years. You do NOT enable Fascists, period. I'm just disappointed to pieces with Rep. Clyburn.

I thought Orange Shitler had destroyed the GOP. Instead he’s sped up the destruction of the Democratic Party. They have no strategy and they have no balls. Where the hell is the leadership? Biden says little and nauseatingly welcomed president Pennywise back into the WH. And it seems like Harris has fucking disappeared. The party failed us and they are now either crawling into holes or not engaging n trying to fight. Harris should have demanded recounts in the swing states. There are clear issues and many of us are fighting for recounts and not just for Harris. Already there are serious concerns in a race in NC. I was so impressed with Harris and Walz during the campaign. Now I’m disappointed. Where the fuck is she? I’m starting to regret voting at all. There is a way to try and fight for recounts without acting like president Fuckface did four years ago. It’s not an either or. Right now, I’m feeling very done with the Democrats.

Biden fucked over his own party by running when he was over 80. That was doomed to fail. He also fucked over his own VP, first by NOT withdrawing in 2022, and then by insisting she run kinda like him INSTEAD of running a BASE election. Looking at our own data, 2ce as many Dems stayed home in 2024 than in 2020 (this is local, NJ data). Now, extrapolate across the USA. It is heart-breaking. But if you run as a Democrat, do NOT run as a "good government Republican." *SIGH!*

Yes Catherine, he was supposed to be a “bridge” president. He started by picking Garland as AG (the biggest flop of the administration) and changing his intention to be a bridge. The man’s strength was mostly diplomacy and getting deals done, but his communicative skills have been sorely lacking. And Kamala lost by a little over 200,000 votes in three swing states, and too many Dems stayed home (insanely!!!)

Two things: Garland as AG makes me wonder WTF Obama was thinking in tapping him to SCOTUS. What are the chances he would be a strong justice when he doesn't have the balls to be a strong AG? Yet another reason that I have lost trust and faith in every Dem except Pete.

Second, I am not sure she lost at all. There are some very strong indications that this election was hacked. Spoonamore makes a very compelling case for this. While he says that it may or may not change the outcome of the election, he is virtually certain that the election was hacked. The varying methods of voting around the country mean that some (anything other than paper ballots that are hand counted) are relatively easy to hack. I will share the link to his piece about free and fair elections. Once again the accusations of a stolen election by Orange Shitler were actually a confession of what they did in 2016 and again in 2024. These accusations have also made it difficult for the Democrats who have no balls at all to turn the accusation back in their lying fucking faces. And anyone who does not like my language, too fucking bad. I am so fucking fed up with the whole system. What our two "wonderful" political parties have shown me is that the entire idea of the United States of America has been nothing more than a nearly 250 year old really bad fucking joke. It is time to put it out of it's misery. We have one party that care only about what they can bleed of Americans and another that repeatedly lies down, spreads it's legs and says, Oh, yes! Fuck me, again, harder!

Your language is REAL, Kate, and many of us feel the frustration. Criminals accuse their enemies of the crimes they themselves commit, and Drumpf is known for exactly that kind of behavior. This election was shady to say the least, yet Democrats seem to be rolling over and not challenging.

Garland has been a complete disaster; he was nominated by Obama to be a “bipartisan” SCOTUS candidate-another example of how Democrats “obey in advance.” As head of the DOJ he’s a perfect example of Milquetoast AG.

Clyburn must be delusional to say that. America witnessed what happened on 1/6 firsthand, officers died, lives were put in danger, and the person who incited it (again, witnessed firsthand) gets pardoned?! Cheney, Kinzinger, Thompson, Schiff, Hutchinson et al must be appalled.

No, no pardon for Trump!! it is ridiculous to even consider that. Secondly, I am very disappointed in Jared Moskowitz agreeing to work with the made up DOGE!! I irks me to no end. I look to Moskowitz as a fighter, as an attack dog and we need more like him in Congress to fight and push back, but this is a position that makes me sad!!

We need new, younger blood in the Democratic leadership. This good guy follow the rules persona is not going to work against T and his MAGA hate. Right now he seems to be trying to act calmly and “normal” but there is nothing normal about him. The corporate media just plays along with him. Come 1/20, everything will change. But, really, how the hell does he think he will be able to jail the 1/6 committee and pardon those that committed real crimes on that day? It is obscured to think like that and it just shows his distain for the laws in this country.

We saw a lot of that younger leadership over the summer. But they are now sitting back and saying little. There only two Democrats left I have any respect for and faith in: Jasmine Crockett and Pete Buttigieg. Every other one can go fuck all the way off.

And Clyburn? So disappointing.

I am so over it.

I completely agree. The GOP is now a bunch of gangsters determined to break the government. You can't be nice to gangsters. That does not work. We need Dems to show some guts and fight for our values. If they give in to fascists and their goon racist militias, our democracy will cease to exist.

Unfortunately it will cease to exist. We get the government we choose. The pissing and moaning I heard from dems leading up to election was pitiful. From Gaza to Biden’s age and beyond. No unity before or now. So let’s quit scratching our ass wondering how this all happened. The orange asshole has undying support.

Jim Clyburn is nothing if not a corporate Dem who enjoys his power and his ability to sway Black voters - it was his endorsement that led to the huge turnaround in support for Biden (during the primaries) in 2020. The Dems don't want to lose him because of the possibility of ending up with a Republican replacement, but honestly....he's another aged-out Democrat who needs to retire.

Jim has really lost his mind if he thinks a Trump pardon is, in any way, a winning strategy for Dems. While we may have lost the vote, a majority of Americans wouldn't want that to happen.

Dems also have to push those over 75 to retire. Depending on the geriatric class to pull in votes for the Party is not a good strategy. People want younger leaders who will respond to this century's challenges (more like Bernie S.).

So funny. I challenged Thom Hartman on this topic of age prior election. I said it absurd these old bastards are permitted to keep getting re-elected. There should be an age limit as with airline pilots. Also holding office should not be a career. Serve and get the fuck out. He totally disagreed with me and felt it was legitimate. How pathetic.

Expand full comment
Lorie's avatar

Agreed! We also don't train experienced leaders as well when the geriatric set keeps a hold of power in Congress and the courts, and they stifle the abilities of younger colleagues who could move up and take their place. RBG was terrific, but we have to keep in mind that all of us are replaceable! Nobody is absolutly essential to the democratic process - it's a group endeavor.
