Michelangelo, thanks for the comparative analysis of this guy to other autocratic rulers both past and present. It gives me the slimmest bit of hope that maybe we can get past this. On the other hand, the gerrymandering efforts in Texas gives me pause. I hope that California and other blue states will do the same if they have to. It's so true that tRump is not well-liked and never has been. It's things like gerrymandering and the electoral college, not to mention voter apathy, that keeps him and his party in power. I'm done with minority rule!
Agree, Sakina. I believe most people are good and kind. The vicious GOP MAGA cult has taken our country by (likely) cheating, and they'll continue to cheat and do anything they can to retain power. Trump is a lifelong, unlikeable conman. What's hurting us is apathy. I hope the apathetic Dems and Independents take some vitamins and head to the polls for the midterms and give us a Dem majority in the House.
“Will elections be held?”is the big question. If for whatever reason Drumpf decides to suspend elections, that will be the reckoning, which seems to be inevitable, IMO.
Hi Larry, Michelangelo mentioned previously that the states control elections. I wouldn't be surprised if Red states, at Drumpf's behest, make even more efforts to suppress and subvert votes, if they can't suspend or cancel elections outright.
I wouldn’t be surprised either Sakina, bc red states bend to dear leader. It’s up to Dems to keep fighting as these Texas legislators are doing. The time for apathy is over and we need to support these bold efforts to overcome the red state governors like Abbott. Voter suppression is their modus operandi bc republicons know they won’t win on issues.
Would Trump sack the head of the National Weather Service for his/her department predicting an increase in extreme heat, flash flooding, severe storms etc.? If he hasn't already sacked the department head ...he probably would with his distorted and pathetic mental state not to mention his natural ability to lie to us all. The sacking of the head of the Labor Depart.statistical arm is ,sadly, reflecting his deteriorating mental state. Perhaps,Trump should sack the 2,000 people who actually collect & prepare the labor/work statistics, or does he expect his appointed new department head to simply lie on his behalf....of course he will expect that!!
And he’s old. He hasn’t much time left. These autocrats seem to believe that if they stay in power they will live forever. Not going to happen, especially with the strong evidence of cognitive decline and congestive heart failure
How in the name of all things holy someone who bankrupted a casino could be regarded as strong on the economy is staggering. And the corollary is that given his flip flopping on tariffs and now monkey wrenching job figures and the consequential uncertainty- now we know how he managed to bankrupt a casino and have so many other failed ventures. He’s a shit businessman, and has only made his wealth through grift.
