My recovery will begun the day Drumpf and his co-conspirators are convicted and imprisoned, period.

Excellent interview, although the term 'contagious sociopathy' is totally frightening! We already had so many...! I felt very relieved and excited by the Fulton County DA's charges. Her office has caught up with the schemers both high and low in Georgia. Even simply bringing the charges sheds so much more light on the depth of the conspiracy.

But really, it will be very difficult, if not impossible, to get over the PTSD caused by Trump, and continuing through the Repubican Party, as it continues its blatant policies of cruelty to civilians everywhere.

I agree with Sakina over the press, but continue my concern over the bizarre twisting of reality that goes on steadily at Fox and places covered by the Sludge folks.

For this weekend I'm concerned about Mike's frequent "commenter friend", Chris C. who writes to us from Palm Springs, which is now predicted to have flooding from Tropical Storm Hilary. Please stay high and dry, Chris C.!!

Great discussion my friend. You may recall early in this nightmare which anyone in the state of NY might have predicted when the orange monster came down that escalator that we were in for a very bad time. At that time, I wrote that my upstate NY cousin (who grew up on a farm) called me on Jan 8th of 2021 and said "You missed our bonfire last night, we burned the Trump flag in our front yard. We are done with this after the attack on the Capitol." I thought there was hope at that point, but the monster doubled down and the cult followers went right along with him. I feel angry that Barr HAD the chance to bring this to an end when the Mueller report came out and he, apparently, was pressured by the GOP to whitewash the findings of obstruction (multiple times!) in that report. Isn't it ironic that he (Barr) is now able to state the truth and speak out against it when he had the chance to make a serious difference in this situation? However, a friend's 90 year old mother told me, "Don't kid yourself, the Republican Party has been the party of dirty tricks for my whole life and they stick together". Hence, where we are in 2023. I am sanguine about the indictments, but I am worried that tRump needs to serve time (forever!) to help alleviate the general fears stated in your discussion. Fingers crossed.

It’s satisfying seeing the indictments, but …… it still amazes me that he can still run for the office. If there’s no consequences to his actions, and this is all for nothing and I know this country is better than that. We live near the Capitol and I’ll tell ya, it was horrible a few days before with his cult taking over the city with their hate….the day of and the days after…. It effected my work.

Now, whenever I see the flag on clothing or on cars or motorcycles ~ I think MAGAS! He kinda ruined the real meaning for me. I’ve had this discussion with others and they feel the same way, so I know it’s just not me.

I know we will prevail!

No. What will help to heal are executions and heads on pikes. That will bring closure.

Thanks so much, Michelangelo, for this interview with Dr. Seth Norrholm, and especially for your written transcript. It makes it easier to keep track of the main things in this dialog.

I’m really glad the tide is turning and that we can begin to see justice and closure coming down the road. Well, maybe. The “maybe” is that PTSD is post traumatic stress disorder, and the “post” part signifies that the active traumatic stress is mostly done. But that trauma or stress is not over yet. We still have to deal with getting Trump off the scene so the active day-to-day harm coming from him stops. Which has fewer dangerous consequences, jail time or home detainment? Or something else? And after that, we have to keep another fascist-authoritarian white supremist from taking power. There can’t be PTSD in its real sense if yet another thug and democracy-hater comes to power. The stress disorder will just continue in another form.

So we have to keep fighting in the frontlines, just like Michelangelo and other broadcasters are doing. Then, when the electorate regains Democratic control in the next election, the healing can slowly begin. As healing proceeds, recovery can begin to take place in our battered America, fed by Justice and closure. And I think part of that closure needs to be a real apology, without groveling or shame, by Republicans in some form or another. They need to clearly accept accountability for what they’ve allowed to happen in more than words. Then we can recover from this hurtful time.

I often wonder why and how so many of our fellow Americans have let this near-ruin of democracy take place. Democracy is still threatened because there are so many people, for one reason or another, who still support the Republican thrust. It’s not just the hateful, white supremist, authoritarian right-wing leadership making this happen, but the large number of people who support them. Why?

Once democracy is safe again, I think we have to take a hard look at our inherently stressful, unjust, out-of-balance way of life. That inherent disorder, injustice and stress is what made it possible for the white supremist, bigoted, extremist factions to get a toehold to abolish democracy in the first place. We get sick when the immune system is down. The sickness is a symptom of the immune system being down. The symptom is not the cause of the sickness. There’s more to say about why I think our weakened social “immune system” is the cause of the extremist, authoritarian, Republican grab for power in the first place. And more about what is still weakening, our social immune system. Changes in this are what real, sustainable recovery must be about. For now, thanks Michelangelo for this great transcript and great dialog between you and Dr. Norrholm. Please have him back again. Justice, healing, closure, recovery.

I am hopeful about the indictments, but I am less hopeful than I would like to be because the mainstream media could help in our recovery and they still are not. Many have not learned from 2016. It doesn't appear that way with some of them covering Hunter Biden way more than they need to, not covering Joe Biden's accomplishments nearly enough, not calling out the MAGA leader and his minions hardly at all, and not fact-checking in real time like they need to (just a few examples). Until news becomes not-for-profit and reflects true journalism once again our nightmare will likely continue. There is no liberal mainstream media. That's just another right-wing talking point.

This interview explained what’s been happening in the minds of Americans, left- or right-minded. I saw hope in these explanations but also fear of the future. May we all understand just how deeply Trump and his psychopathic cronies have harmed America and Americans by this interview and allow us a glimmer of hope for our nation.
