A troll was banned not for "saying something you don't like" but for trolling every comment with nasty responses that are not in the spirit of open and respectful debate.

Thank you. Sad to have to see that garbage among reasonable thoughts.

I just wish my state can pull our taxes from

WV, and just say according to your senator you don’t need our money.

Every person who follows you who is from West Virginia should be writing letters to the editors of the local papers throughout the state to express their displeasure over Manchin's new attitude. Some rich supporters should also take out ads in the local papers and radio stations expressing generalized surprise and displeasure that Manchin would think to deprive his residents of much needed assistance. And of course calling into radio talk shows about this matter within the state, so that he knows how unpopular this is making him. I'm sure many of his big-pocketed pals don't even live in WV but think they can buy the election on his behalf. The danger is not pushing him to join the Republicans. But he needs to see how difficult he will make life for his own constituents who would overwhelmingly benefit from this legislation.

With democrats like Manchin, who needs GOPers! Let's not forget he also voted to confirm Brett Kavanaugh as well. Only thing I can think of right now to make him misreable woulb be to boycott any business he owns stock in.

He needs to be removed from any committee and outwardly shunned for the selfish destruction of our economy.

I think that most likely there is a corporate/billionaire push to put a finger in what they consider the dyke of taxes to come. Manchin probably believes that Democrats need to keep the rich on board and old fashioned lobbying is a fact of life; of course he benefits as well as others have previously. We need Manchin for voting rights, which must be done, We, then starting next month

start a massive add campaign on all topics; this will help bring the press on board to get the add revenue, as they only care about money, not truth. Biden's polls will skyrocket and the old guy that can't get shit done will suddenly be the guy that fixes everything.

What "ad campaign" can do that. Would be great, but they are trying it already. Got to get BBB passed in some form!!

Democrat leaders used to punish recalcitrant members. Will Manchin be stripped of coveted committee assignments? Plush office setting? Oh, horrors! He’d jump ship to the Republicans. Yeah, that’s so old.

A real strong BBB could attract more voters to the Blue and increase Senate’s Dem majority. But no, the Dems allowed DINOs to water it down and eventually throttle it. These are the same folks who ended Pandemic Unemployment Assistance on freakin Labor Day weekend. So somebody tell me, for real, for real what is the Democrat party good for on the federal level?

Here, in Massachusetts, being a Dem is different and a wee bit more of a progressive agenda gets enacted.

Bravo. What a GREAT article you have written. I want to see Manchin and Sinema put on the spot and all of the GOP senators! I want to see a vote on BBB asap. I want everyone on record.

Happy Christmas and Merry New Year. (Trading Places)

Typical liberals whining when they don’t get what they want. Old Manchin handed you a dose of reality, from your own party, and you can’t take it. So now, you want to get all nasty and ad hominem. Spoken like a true lib. Good with all that. See you in the mid-terms.

P.S. Old Manchin is like the honey badger. He really doesn’t give a shit. He’s gonna do what he’s gonna do for his constituents, irrespective of the lame attempts of liberal bullying, such as you outline here. Go Joe!

Mr. Troll, please go hide back under the bridge where you came from. Manchin is actually doing a huge disservice to his constituents by not supporting BBB. Much of his state would benefit from the child benefits and even the coal industry is criticizing him. It's himself and his wealthy cronies he's serving instead of those who elected him.

Yea, go on, drink the liberal Kool-Aid. Fact is, the country cannot afford it. He had the balls to call it out.

We could afford it if Republicans allowed Congress to tax the ultra-rich.

I hope Shumer starts pulling him from committees and refusing to give him any of the Dems' Senate Campaign money. Not that he needs it, but withdrawing campaign support funds would give him a black eye.

This is another example of a pathetic politician beholden to corporate interests. They're not going to relinquish their stranglehold on the American people until we stand up and fight. Once again we see the power we give by purchasing things. It is long past the time to start showing them what happens if/when we stop giving them that power.

Mobus's avatar

No. Manchin is a self-made man. He’s got enough money to live several lifetimes. He’s beholden to no one, except his duty to those who elected him. Sucks when a politician doesn’t play politics, doesn’t it?

He IS a corporation and that is a sad reality, no. And if you think he isn't playing politics you must be fucking dreaming.

Yea, whatever. He did what none of the other sycophants would have the balls to do. And it’s got the libs spun up in a lather. Better call a huddle before the mid-terms to get your shit together. Virginia. Now West Virginia. What next?
