Running out of issues and facing energized Democrats, Republicans are further demonizing queer Americans, in the states and nationally, including in the promotion of Project 2025.
I wish people would ask themselves how LGBT people have hurt their lives. The answer is never. Gays don't bother anyone. It's a GOP issue because they can't govern and have no policies except taking rights away from people and fostering hatred.

If they haven't been hurt by anyone from that community and they claim to be the party of small government, then why do they also claim that their religion dictates that they discriminate using the power of the state? Talk about hatred and pretzel logic.
I know that our brains are hardwired to respond in certain ways to perceived threats. It doesn't even have to be actual threats. Unfortunately, many people do not want to put in the difficult work to get past that hardwiring.

Considering the US fancies itself an empire, we are doomed to repeat the fate of all empires. Having everything and forsaking history as we place ourselves above the dire warnings of how empires end. From Rome to Nazi Germany, the lessons are never learned and the demonization of perceived lessors is just the beginning of the end. Funny how the bastardizing of our political system, rigged though it is, fails to interject change that could save it. The oldest Democratic Republic is fraying because no one is brave enough to update the Constitution or unwilling to ditch what isn't working. After marriage equality we should have known resting on our laurels would come back to haunt us. The celebrations drowned out the warnings to shore up the victory with laws to protect the marginalized among us. Recent polling revealed the drop of support that should have come with alarm klaxons. We have the blueprint of where the GOP are headed, where is our manifesto?
Exactly, ArnieB! No one should be surprised if the US goes the way of other past empires. The Roman Empire is a great example from history. They engaged in endless wars and subjugation of other peoples, as well as their own. The people were kept ignorant and preoccupied with gladiator games and so on. Most were also fine with having a dictator. Eventually, they destroyed themselves and were easy pickings for being invaded and taken over.

They have no platform other than trying to nullify my marriage, not allow trans kids the medical they need, trying to criminalize the LGBTQ+ community, trying to roll back the rights that black/brown people fought and died to get etc. they make me seriously sick.
I'm hoping the moralist hypocrisy in american society is going into its final death throes. They are all walking on thin ice as far as I'm concerned. A decade or two from now they will wind up like the know-nothings from the 1800's or the alcohol prohibitionists from the early 1900's.

The transgender ideology, especially that which pushes allowing children to make the irreversible decision to artificially change their gender, is a losing issue for Democrats. You are taking the position that a child, who is considered too immature to sign a contract, vote, or join the military, IS somehow mature enough to make that decision.
It's absurd, and your attempts to force this down parents' throats has already caused a backlash, and stories like this one guarantee that backlash will succeed nationally:
LQBTQ rights for adults is one thing, and has in fact been accepted by the majority of Americans, even by a lot of conservatives. Very profitable plastic surgery and hormonal "therapy" on children is another, and saying denying such treatment to children somehow murders them is patently ridiculous.
The Democratic Party left me years ago when it clearly transitioned into a bizarre, postmodernist cult that means "oligarchy" every time it says "democracy," and "control" every time it says "freedom," but defending what will be seen by future historians as a twisted fad with terrible consequences is a new exercise in futility.
The MAGAts are freaking out about Taylor Swift (think Super Bowl). As a Michigander - I was laughing that if our Lions 🦁 weren’t going to be in the game - how on earth were these MAGAt’s going to deal with a Super Bowl between Gavin Newsom’s state San Francisco 49ers and Swifty’s beau’s KC team. There has got to be some creative ways to drive these Neanderthal’s over the edge. And it’s football 🏈 😂
You call these LGBT laws, but the majority from what can tell are actually aimed at the trans community. It would be more helpful to this cause to distinguish this, because some might argue that the outsized focus on staging drag story hours and the medicalization of gender and sexuality at an an early age are in fact counterproductive to the gay rights agenda.
