You told him off! 👍 The only thing you needed to do was bring up a scripture. Maybe you should have Rev Barber come on your show. He cross scriptures them up to where they have to come back. BTW, great show today. I feel like a Signorile University student.

Wow. It is clear that these 'christians' are paying attention to the evangelical crazy preachers whose main focus is politics, not 'the bible' or the 'teachings of jesus'. Like Paula White going nuts and screaming for angels to come from South America and Africa (huh?!) and make Trump victorious. These people are crazy cultists and trying to talk to them about reality is a waste of time.

If Kirk wants forgiveness, he should pray to his God who no doubt is made in his own image for forgiveness for supporting a man who destroys families, cages children and leaves the weak and vulnerable to die. He should ask forgiveness. All these so-called christians should. Supporting evil is evil.

When all you have to listen to 24/7/365 down south are Flush Limbo, Snark Levin, Alice Jones and their mentors Jerry Fellwell, Moflo Dollar, Less Feltdick, Oral Roberts, etc. Kirk is what you end up with. Right Wing CONservatism born of a religious or economic doctrine is a racket used to hypnotize their flock with a crock of BS while simultaneously picking their pockets all in the name of god and Manson family values!

In honor of the grift that perpetuates the graft, I leave you, Michelangelo Signorile a parody I wrote to honor your never ending gladiatorial combativeness on our behalf that is making a resounding difference in effecting positive change towards a solid small d democracy and the fair and equitable pursuit of prosperity, happiness and making the American Dream great again!

So without further ado, I give you my masterpizza: "The GRIFT Goes On"

[please follow the bouncing balls and sing along to the harmonious strains of Sonny and Cher's, "The Beat Goes On"].

The 'grift' goes on, the 'grift' goes on

'FOX' keeps pounding a rhythm to the brain

La de da de de, la de da de da

'Oh'Really' was......... once the rage, uh huh

'Twistory' has turned the page, uh huh

The 'GO-PIGS', the current thing, uh huh

'Orange asshopper' is our newborn king, uh huh

And the 'grift' goes on, the 'grift' goes on

'FOX' keeps pounding a rhythm to the brain

La de da de de, la de da de da

The 'U.S. FED's' the super mart, uh huh

Little girls drink Maker's Mark, uh huh [think Jeffrey Epstein]

And men still keep on 'paying' off the whores'

Electrically, they 'shock the people' more

And the 'grift' goes on, the 'grift' goes on

'FOX' keeps pounding a rhythm to the brain

La de da de de, la de da de da

'BOOMERS' sit in chairs and reminisce

'Don keeps chasing girls to get a kiss'

The lies keep coming ’faster' all the time

'Middle class cries', "Hey buddy, have you got a dime?"

And the 'grift' goes on, the 'grift' goes on

'Donny' keeps pounding a rhythm to the brain

La de da de de, la de da de da

And the 'grift' goes on, yes, the 'grift' goes on

And the 'grift' goes on, and the 'grift' goes on..........

You can't fix stupid. As a Christian, one must realize supporting this monster is a slap in the face to religion in general. His racism, bigotry, misogyny and homophobia are ALL anathema to Christianity.

I wish you would let these people speak a little bit longer before you attack so we can get the full impact of their thinking. For example. this man is haltingly trying to state his reasoning for choosing Trump and you cut him off before he gave his full explanation. To be clear I am glad you did though.

Thanks Mary Lou. I'm always wary of them pushing propaganda or diverting. So if they don't go right into it directly, I try to steer it back. It's a balancing act, but I get your point. Thanks.

I was stuck in traffic when that guy called in and loved your clap-back as soon as he said “Christian”. It’s really pathetic on a certain level because Kirk is the kind of Trumper who not only lacks the ability to question and think on his own but is afraid to do so. If Trump told Kirk to hand over every last dollar he has, abandon his home and family and follow him to a “Promise Land”, he would probably do it.

I think the reason Trumpers like Kirk call into your show is because deep down they know Trump is a hideous human who has destroyed the country and is responsible for the deaths of thousands. They lack the courage to admit in their support they have contributed to the destruction. It’s easier for Kirk’s psyche to hide behind fake religion and authoritarianism than risk the uncertainty of becoming an independent thinker.

This guy is a crackpot Christian and what demonstrates that is his mentioning the "Rapture" and there being some mention of it in the Bible, which there isn't. The rapture is some nonsense that was conspired by an English Evangelical huckster in the late 19th Century for the same purpose making money off of rubes like Kirk. Exactly what has Trump done good for America. Now if you're a rich person I'm sure you think his 2 trillion dollar tax break which 80 percent went to with the insinuation that it would lead to massive economic growth which it didn't lead to, but rather most of it was used for stock buybacks and increasing the dividends of the investor class. Kirk is a bigot and he wants assurances he's a palatable person in these trying times. As a North Carolinian myself he shames me for the fact he hails from my home state. We Tar Heels are better than that.

Yes and his description of being a "Holy Roller" is no real term for any Evangelical. They are either members of the "Pentecostal" or the "Holiness" Church and given to talk in tongues which was an episode in the Bible and is designated as "The Day of Pentecost." Some might compare them to Jehovah Witnesses, but that sect puts little credence into flag worship or making patriotic vows or letting such patriotic sentiment subsume their religiosity. Being from the south I'm familiar with many of these extreme religious traditions though personally raised in the Presbyterian tradition. And I didn't long subscribe to that either becoming an avowed atheist even before becoming a teenager, but not given to remark upon it. What most convinced me it was all nonsense was the lack of evidence of a god and it being totally at odds with the discipline of science. And what confirmed it for me that it was all a hustle was the specter of faith healers on Sunday tv claiming they could heal people with their touch.

Chief among them was Oral Roberts who despite possessing the Christ like ability inspired a university to be built having his name and having a Medical School. I don't know if anyone ever inquired of him what was the need of such a facility if he possessed the ability to cure life threatening diseases with the mere touch of his hand. One of the celebrated basketball players on the Carolina basketball teams in the eighties Steve Hale played with Michael Jordan is currently a pediatric doctor in the state of Vermont and his father once coached the Oral Roberts Basketball team. Religion in my humble opinion is the greatest scam ever perpetuated on mankind. Its about nothing but accruing wealth and power at the expense of the great unwashed. You don't need a mythical god to have a moral compass. Most people are born with an innate sense of right and wrong unless they suffer from some genetic anomaly or grow up in a dysfunctional home with poor parenting. I'm seventy one years old now and over the course of my life nothing has ever manifested itself to convince that anything lies beyond one's inevitable demise.

I agree Roy. I was raised Catholic and seeing a SCOTUS filled with the likes of Catholics like Barrett who is pretty close to a snake handler herself is sick making. What was even worse was the cardinal and bishop who sued and won the right thanks to her to kill more parishioners. If they cared, every vulnerable economically challenged man, woman and child in their dioceses would have masks, but no. What they want are full churches on Christmas so the envelopes roll in. It's one big scam and they got their own in Trump and his stooge Barrett. And people are going to die.

So true Patty. It's what the Catholic church in the US used to focus on, the vulnerable and poor, many decades ago, before the abortion madness.

Patty's avatar

You nailed it, Michelangelo. Abortion drove the church mad, separated it from the gospel message it pretends to preach, and now much of it is as r/w batshit as the GOP. Good job tackling Kirk. His first words were the victim's, like he was some poor, much reviled martyr for the cause, when his cause is actually promoting human suffering, as if that's what his god wants.

I am not an observant Catholic. I do believe Pope Francis wants to bring it back to that time however. I think it will take a generation or two, if he were to succeed, because the Vatican is filled with far right extremists.

It is astonishing how so-called "people of god" can feel that's biblical scripture supports their decision in any way. I can always tell whether or not an evangelical or christian has read the bible if they say either "as a christian I must vote for trump" or "I don't support abortion because it goes against God's word... ". In both cases there wrong. Scripture not only warns christians to not follow people like trump but doubler down by saying if they do they pay an ultimate price for doing so. As far as abortion, the whole bible, yes old and new testament, is very pro-choice. It even gives directions on how and when an abortion is to be done when God isn't outright ordering the slaughter of children or children in the womb.
