I was raised Catholic. According to Catholic dogma, the Holy Spirit in effect elects the new pope via the Conclave. How do the detestable Burke and equally detestable FOX and EWTN contributor Raymond Arroyo and the rest explain their heresy? EWTN is FOX for Catholics. It’s radicalized millions of the faithful through the lethal combination of religion and fear. They actually ran a program on Marjorie Trash Greene calling her a spiritual warrior for being pro forced birth. In 2001, they blamed 9/11 on abortions. They are just as crazy as FOX and just as insidious.

They are evil and hypocrites. I'd love to see the skeletons in their closets.

If as a Catholic you believe that the Holy Spirit picks a new Pope than shut the hell up. I was thinking the same thing when I read your post.

The arrogance of the cognitive dissonance is mind blowing. They know better than anyone, including the Holy Spirit, is what these people are actually saying. And the people who believe this crap lost the plot and the ability to think things through.

I wonder if Burke was one of those Catholic bishops who refused to give sacraments to Democratic political figures like Biden and Nancy Pelosi for being pro-choice, but would to political figures who are big on war, capital punishment, and guns.

Yes, he was -- refusing John Kerry and pushing to refuse Biden.

They are closeted hypocrites. They want people to live as primitive people lived 2000 years ago. No, thanks. They control right wing catholics who fall for their b.s. These Cardinals are egomaniacs and hypocrites.

Far be it for me to opine regarding the opiate of the masses (religion), but this move by the Pope cannot be less than great for people both within and outside the catholic faith. To know that the head of a church hews more towards the humanity of the layperson than outward demogogary. Burke will reap what he sowed on earth in the afterlife and will be no less than he deserves. Pope Francis has rid the church of a festering boil and the shot across the bow should let the other christian nationalists know that Rome's reach is nearer than they realize...

As a recovered Catholic, this is a must read by anyone catholic or not.

Burke is a hypocritical closeted gay man who has wreaked havoc in the church. My aunt is a huge fan of his (Burke) and thinks Pope Francis is the anti-Christ. That view just cemented for me that this Pope is on the right path in his attempt to drag Catholicism into the 21st century.

I never thought I would see the day when the Roman Catholic Church leadership in Rome would be ahead of a significant party in the U.S. on LGBT issues. Sadly, the biggest problem facing the world is hate. Hate is fueled by fear. Leaders and other politicians build hate by fanning fear. The public focuses on the hate rather than the incompetence and misdeeds of the leaders and politicians. Many of the MAGA people may have observed some of tRUMP's shortcomings but they forgive him and other politicians who support him because he hates the same people that they do.

Raymond Burke losing his home and his salary isn't quite as satisfying as Henry K shuffling off his mortal coil, but these two events make this quite the satisfying week!

Burke is a big, flaming queen. Douthat is a whiny douchebag and one of the many reasons I don’t subscribe to the times.

As a literally recovering catholic the information shared in this write up is terrifying. I had no idea that so many of the SCOTUS were catholic.

So that flushing sound I heard was coming from The Vatican. Way to go, Pope Francis!

Wonderful news! Ties in well with Francis’ recent statement that transpeople can be godparents. Also with his overall approach on this issue:,who am I to judge. He is trying hard to ‘move the Queen Mary on a dime.’

All you need to do to see that Ray is another closeted self-loathing queen: Google him and check the images and just look at the lovely frilly lace, long red cape, and the hat with the pompoms. He's an ecclesiastical fashion maven!

Burke will be canonized.
