This sounds absolutely spot on. The demographic wave is what swept across the USA in November. And I suspect there is a bigger one coming in 2024. Generation Z outnumbers the boomers, and they are sick of our shit. Sinema, because she is a narcassist, can't read much less relate to their concerns .
Thanks for this viewpoint- I was really pissed off at her, but I love the thought of her scrambling now. Hopefully Gallego get the the nod for Dems in 2024
Thanks for the clarification kind sir. Her miscalculation will lead to her demise either way because the repugnants don't trust her and her unfavorability among the DEMS will make the party take a calculated risk that will pay off in the end. Her jumping into bed with corporate types and denying Arizonans a living wage would have her gone by now were she up for reelection this year. The independents know enough about her to render her persona non grata.
Excellent analysis -- I agree. And since I have no objection, and nothing new to contribute, maybe this is the time for me to ask my question (which has been on my mind for a few days now, but has nothing to do with this topic).
I am curious about something, and it has been bothering me to know the answer.
Say the incumbent governor of a state is Republican.
Let's say the incoming governor is a Democrat
Let's say that the people of that state also elected a Democrat for Senator.
However, suppose the Senator-elect passes away before the inauguration.
Who picks the replacement?
(And assume the special election cannot be held for 9 months.)
Does it all come down to the timing of it?
If the Governor is sworn in first (and there IS a current senator, say republican) then there is NO current senator at the time a new one is sworn in; thus, the D picks until the special election.
But if the Senator is to have been sworn in first, and, at that time there is none to take the place, and if the Governor is R, does the R pick (Until there is a special election)?
The law in AZ is that the governor, whoever it is and whatever party they are from, must choose a senator from the same party as the one who stepped down. Thus if Sinema stepped down as a Democrat, the governor would have to appoint a Democrat. But if she steps down as an independent the governor must choose an independent.
Poor Sinema she has been shown to be the victim of her own huge miscalculations. Biden won Arizona as did Hobbs and Kelly while Sinema had to become an independent to save her sinking Senate seat. I sent her money from here in NJ in 2018 and have called her office and emailed her asking for that money to be returned. I supporter her to be a progressive Democrat and not an Independent in the Senate. She can't win reelection in 2024 and should resign and let Hobbs pick a true Progressive to serve out her term. Let Sinema run to corporate America and make lots of money as she is truly a sellout.
I dunno... Had she announced before the midterms this would make more sense. Knowing the midterm results, she had plenty of time to change her mind if she was switching to show Dems that she was the smartest person in the room.
She's not showing Democrat she's smart now -- she was thinking she was smart before the midterms. Now she's showing she miscalculated and is making the only move she can.
She's trying to get the moderate Repub vote + the blue dog Dem vote. She'll split the ticket and hurt the Dems. She's untrustworthy and gets a lit of money from oil companies and Big Pharma.

Stay tuned folks.
