Is it the end for Marjorie Taylor Greene?
Maybe, and maybe not. But she won't go down without doing more damage to Republicans, as the GOP devolve further into chaos. All of which is good for Democrats.
Marjorie Taylor Greene is suddenly under fire from all sides, as Republicans in the House who previously stayed silent and right-wing media that were previously muted are lashing out.
The vote by Congress to send aid to Ukraine on Saturday was a huge blow to Greene, MAGA and ultimately Donald Trump. And it appears to have emboldened weak-kneed Republicans.
House Speaker Mike Johnson, after months of refusing to have a vote on Ukraine aid—costing more lives and land in Ukraine’s battle to beat back Russia—decided to move forward with a vote, as the votes had been there among enough Republicans and all Democrats for months.

No one should be holding Johnson up as a hero, as he allowed this global crisis to reach a breaking point before acting. The impenetrable corporate media narrative is that Johnson, given more dire intelligence briefings, had a change of heart and decided aid was important even if he lost his job, as Greene threatened to remove him via a motion-to-vacate.
Missing from the corporate media narrative is the fact that prominent evangelicals in the U.S. and Ukraine met with Johnson in recent weeks and framed the issue as one of “religious freedom” being threatened by Putin. Jonathan Larsen has yet another report about this today. Trump went along with the move on Ukraine aid after being adamantly opposed, likely because he didn’t want to disappoint the Christian nationalists again—after he didn’t come out for a federal abortion ban—or saw which way things were going and didn’t want to be on the losing side. Or both.
Whatever the case, it was a win for Ukraine, as well as for Democrats, and a big loss for Greene and her cohorts.
And as is the case when there’s blood in the water, those who’ve had it with Greene showed just how big of a loss it was, as Greene blinked and didn’t move forward right after the Ukraine vote with her motion to remove Johnson. She called on Johnson to “resign” but didn’t say she was moving to remove him through a vote, saying she’d wait until after members come back from recess to decide—as several Democrats indicated they’d save Johnson, if only to thwart Greene.
It all just telegraphed weakness on the part of Greene. That was clear from the sudden criticism.
The Murdoch-owned New York Post went with the headline, “NYET, MOWCOW MARJORIE,” photoshopping a Russian fur Ushanka hat onto a photo of Greene. Fox News had a piece on their website: “Marjorie Taylor Greene is an idiot. She is trying to wreck the GOP.” Newsmax asked, “Who Put Marjorie Taylor Greene in Charge?” while the Murdoch-owned Wall Street Journal’s Editorial Board called her “Marjorie Mayhem Greene.”
GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales of Texas lashed out on CNN at the “scumbags” he serves with in Congress, mentioning Greene’s allies Reps. Matt Gaetz and Bob Good. On Sunday, Fox’s Maria Bartiromo confronted Greene about the criticism she and the rest of the mega-MAGA contingent are receiving, and chided her for not moving forward with her motion-to-vacate, which had already garnered support from MAGA Reps. Thomas Massie and Paul Gosar.
Bartiromo asked the congresswoman on Sunday why she chose to not refile the motion to vacate to bring a House vote after the foreign aid bills passed on Saturday, to which Greene responded, "I've been responsible with this the entire time."
Bartiromo then prompted Greene for her reaction to members of both sides of the aisle who have accused her of making the Republican Party "look like it's disrupted" ahead of the November general election, where former President Donald Trump is likely set to challenge President Joe Biden for a second term in 2020 election rematch.
"You know, everybody—a lot of people are criticizing you," Bartiromo said. "And the reason that they are is because they're saying that you're creating drama during this election year."
Greene responded by attacking “those on the left, those on the right, the uni-party that's in control of our government.”
It’s not exactly speaking from a position of strength when you’re in the tiny minority against the rest of Congress—and that your weapon, the motion-to-vacate, has been diffused. So, as cowardly as the GOP has been, this could really be the beginning of the end of Greene’s reign.
Greene, who terrorized Congress knowing that Trump was behind her, has now found herself thrown under the bus by Trump on the Ukraine aid vote. He could, of course, rescue her at any time, though she does seem like damaged goods even for him. Either way, she will continue to act out in ways that will show the GOP in chaos and deeply divided, and that will only be good for Democrats.
She is a disgrace on every level in every way.
The thought of her receiving a lifetime pension is nauseating
