Kamala Harris makes it crystal clear she's ready to lead
On night four of the DNC the vice president confidently accepted the nomination, showing she's strong, tough, determined to beat Trump and be president of the United States
It was incredible to be part of history last night as Kamala Harris accepted the Democratic nomination for president, on a night when other speakers showcased her national security and foreign policy experience.
I will write more in our usual Weekend Report tomorrow, but just a short post here to share how this was something enormous, and how thrilling it was to be part of it, sitting up in the skybox after my SiriusXM program and co-anchoring coverage of the speeches with my colleague John Fugelsang.
Harris was so confident and self-assured. The cadence of the speech showed that, taking her time, reassuring everyone that she is ready on all fronts.
And she tore apart Donald Trump, describing him as “unserious” and yet enormously dangerous because he is not the person we want leading the free world.
The room was more on fire than it had been in the entire four days, and people just didn’t want to leave at the end.
Again, I’ll share more impressions tomorrow about last night and the entire week—and on Sunday we’ll have our Zoom Q&A—but I wanted to share a post so you can all join in a discussion on here.
Great way to end a fantastic week! Now it is time to keep the momentum going. The lies and distractions the republicans will come out with have to be shot down. He calls her Comrade Kamala, what the hell? His stupid name calling isn’t working anymore. Watched Morning Joe and they did a compare of the two conventions. We rocked, they were uptight, sad and angry, full of fear and hate.
I wish my parents were alive to see and feel this moment in history. I grew up hearing my Grandmother talk about hearing the Suffrages speak out in Upstate NY, I watched my Mother fight for Women’s Rights in the 60’s and 70’s and my Step Mom fight for Women’s Rights while CEO of Planned Parenthood. WE WILL NOT GO BACK!!!!! 💙💙💙💙
I was there as a delegate from Tennessee. It was an epic week and I am fired up to work hard to get Kamala elected.
