MTG is so loathsome I knew that I could not watch Leslie Stahl sit down with her and treat her as if she were a reasonable human being and not the disgusting QAnon anti-semitic racist foul mouthed lunatic fascist moron that she is. Indeed when I heard that she called Democrats pedophiles and that Stahl did not just end the interview then, but let her continue and that Stahl just made faces of disdain and did not push back on her, I was glad I did not watch.

I stopped watching "60 Minutes" eons ago, post Wallace, Reasoner, Safer, and Bradley. I liked Andy Rooney, too. I did not realize that it had sunk so low. I don't think that MTG should have been on the program, but I can understand the reasoning for having her on, besides ratings (which they didn't get). Some think that perhaps many viewers who are not in her congressional district or who are not QAnon would realize just how deranged she is, the logic being that she would scare off Independents or "reasonable" Republicans. Uh, hello! If Americans still don't know about her, then that's a problem in and of itself.
I have to say, this is the best example yet of the Corporate Media (a.k.a. MSM) putting ratings, and presumably profits, ahead of their responsibility to the nation and to democracy. Coming from an employee of the same network whose former head made the infamous statement about Trump being good for ratings, it is especially egregious. 60 minutes gave a platform to a freak of nature, a traitor to this country and an enthusiastic supporter of both the Big Lie and the Insurrection. I am, henceforth, done with 60 Minutes permanently. I have many more outlets for news, and I find that "America's Funniest Home Videos" on ABC is much more substantive counter-programming. Besides, AFHV has cat videos. 60 Minutes, fuck you. (Also heard this morning that last Sunday's 60 Minutes was the second lowest rated segment in the show's history. How those ratings lookin' now, CBS?)
I am in total agreement with you, Michelangelo, as I was saying “Wow” to the television and looking for Lesley Stahl, who stalled in her interview with this vile woman, to be a worthy investigative journalist. Instead, in a truly softball interview format, Stahl allowed Marjorie Taylor Greene to spew her lies and extreme hatred in so many areas. A decent interviewer would have kept coming back making this dangerous woman accountable and addressing the lies.

Mike, you have had Ruth Ben Giat on several times and from what she has to say the interviews of Trump and MTG, we see the axiom Ruth....Using the tools of democracy to destroy democracy... Would have loved to like this article but a venerable news magazine show scraping the bottom of barrel for unneeded ratings is the last straw. Can only imagine the brain cells lost just looking at MTG let alone listening to the pure drivel go unchallenged...
The 60 Minutes interview with Greene was disgusting and inappropriate. No. I do not want to give more notoriety to ignorant assholes. I have had to endure Trumps photos and voice to ad nauseam from the media for the last seven years. We know who these people are. At this point no minds will be changed. So please quit putting these horrible people in front of us 24/7. The media is giving them exactly what they want. I disagree that Greene is powerful. On another note talking about shitty interviews, Jen Psaki’s new MSN show is weak at best. She is Chuck Todd with a skirt. All softballs. Her interview with Cyrus Vance was very boring. And BTW I believe Vance is searching for his spine. He’s a piece of work. Psaki did a great job as press secretary. She should have kept her day job.
I’ve long yearned for our journalists to follow lead of many European journalists, much harder hitting and strong push back. People being interviewed there know what to expect. The Rump got an eye opener interview there between 2016 and 2020 and he left pissed. Properly, suitably pissed. Softball interviews are as worthwhile as teats on a boar, is where brain cells go to die.
