Michelle and Barack Obama slyly rip Trump apart, belittling him
The Obamas brought the house down at the second night of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago
Donald Trump is still smarting from the whipping he took from the podium of the Democratic National Convention on the second night. It came from speaker after speaker, but most notably from the Obamas, who gave back-to-back speeches that sent shock waves through the United Center in Chicago.
The proof of it was Trump telling an interviewer yesterday that he “likes” Barack Obama and thinks he’s a “nice gentleman.” This is from the man who pushed the racist birther lie and has viciously attacked the Obamas over and over. Trump is scared, and he should be, looking at this convention.

The mood inside the hall and on media row has been jubilation on steroids. I can’t say it enough. Yesterday, again, I sat down on my SiriusXM show live and in pre-tapes with members of Congress, mayors, governors, activists, and advocates, a retired Army major general, the president of Planned Parenthood, and some of our good friends, like Molly Jong-Fast. Today, we've already pre-taped a lot of interviews and spoken with many delegates. We’ll be playing those on today's program.
The jubilation, however, is tempered with warnings, as we saw from the Obamas, that no one can be complacent and that this is a close election and we cannot rest. I want to stress that because people can get caught up in the moment and not realize that it’s going to come down to turn out, particularly for new voters who we have to get registered. I’ve been impressed with how everyone’s gotten that, and clearly we all remember 2016 and even 2020, when Trump did better than expected even though he lost.
I was in the SiriusXM skybox when Senator Bernie Sanders gave his speech, followed by Second Gentleman Doug Emohoff, who gave us a personal look at Kamala Harris—and himself and their relationship—that we’d not previously known. I was really touched by his remarks.
Then came the Obamas and the power, wisdom, humor, and fury of two people who are beloved by Americans. It was no more, “They go low and we go high.” Michelle hit Trump hard, and it was a one-two punch with her and President Obama. They needled Trump, with Michelle saying you have to “make him small” and Barack Obama literally implying Trump is small between his legs, which is what has him insecure about “crowd size.”
They laughed at Trump, along with the more than 20,000 people in the arena, and it was simply electric. Like I said a few weeks ago here, the way to beat Trump is to dismiss him as a serious person even while you stay focused on the danger—as Kamala Harris has done—belittling him while you simply put on a better show. We can waste time lambasting the media about covering Trump or simply give them more of a spectacle to watch, taking attention from Trump.
This convention has been all about that. Before the speeches came the roll call of the states, which was fun, with people dancing to music that was chosen for each state delegation, and then Kamala Harris beamed in from Milwaukee, where she and Tim Walz were speaking in the arena in which Trump had his convention, to a packed crowd of 15,000 people. So over 20,000 people in the arena in Chicago watched her in an arena in Milwaukee, where 15,000 watched, and all of that was broadcast or streamed to tens of millions of people around the country and around the world.
That had to be driving Trump crazy. I know you all watched a lot or all of it and will want to weigh in. Please share your thoughts.
We're finally treating Trump like the joke that he is and it is so satifying to watch! And yes, I believe VP Harris and friends have found the formula for making Trump nuts ... and she is delivering it as a gift to DEMS across the nation! And that is just a value add! The real gift is leadership and a strategic plan for everyone (well, almost everyone. LOL) Agree, super important to not be complacent EVER when Trump is involved, but it is so refreshing finally watching people just publically call him out. It feels like being handed a cold glass of water after walking in a dry desert for years! LOL 😃
Hello everyone, I just wanted to say that I was watching the convention last night on MSNBC and they said that the crowd in Wisconsin last night was actually sold out and that there was more like closer to 19,000 in attendance. I thought that was just so awesome!!
