Mike Johnson is a poignant example of what being closeted and repressed looks like. His self-hatred brought to you by his distorted faith has him obsessed with monitoring and controlling the lives of others and imposing his will upon others. This from the party proclaiming they want small government and freedom. By example, what is sought is control through their brand of a theocracy. Rendering to Caesar? Uh, no.....

If I had the stomach for it I’d look for fiction about Lindsay Graham and Mike’s Johnson. They both protest too much.

Yuck. That's some slashfic that NO ONE wants to write. Or read, for that matter.

Hmmm, just like they honored 'settled law' with Rowe and the Voting Rights Act?!? Please, I'm calling bullshit, here and now.

Where does the Constitution say being gay is a crime? Johnson needs to shut his trap and focus on the law. I hope the GOPs assault on human rites bites them in 2024

And why is the right wing so obsessed with sex?

Because they're tempted by constantly — they're hoping if they outlaw it, they wouldn't be tempted by it anymore!

Apparently, self-control is an alien concept of these people.

Well let’s hope that Clarence is also pushed to reexamine Loving vs. Virginia. Wonder how he would feel about his marriage suddenly being illegal. That would be the only consolation if the idiot right flank were to get their way on Obergefeldt

Right in Michaelangelo for the bald aced lie he told he should burn in hell eternally. The extreme right is an extreme problem for a large percentage of this country. Given the context of this extreme bigots past countless opinions on gay issues it would not be exaggerative to say “ Vote blue as our lives depend on it”. Dangerous times people need to pay attention and take heed

Someone needs to ask Johnson, along with the rest of the GOP, how do you explain Trump talking about "Golden Showers" at his rallies, to our children?

Expand full comment

Don’t they have better things to do instead of forcing their religion on people and legislating against peoples private lives? That’s all the have to brag about. They are not following the Constitution, the are trying to make this country a theocracy lead by a Dictator. They are blinded by power and money.

They are incapable of governance so they focus on social issues and block any Democratic legislation that would be good for the country.

So most recent polls show Joe Biden losing support among voters 18-34 and Trump gaining support by them. Did these voters forget about Dobbs? Do they want more of Trumps Supreme Court picks? Polls this far out are a snapshot in the moment. I can’t imagine young people want to go even further backwards.

Expand full comment

Young people haven't heard the details. Like what's in Project 25, plans to ban some popular contraception, no plans to help with student college debt.

No one has explained to them that the 50 year average for interst rates is 7%. All they have seen in their adult life is 2%.

They have not experienced inflation and this is no where near what we had in the late 70's into the 1980's. Even with a republican president like Reagan, we continued to have double digit interest rates into the early 1990's.

Expand full comment

My interest rate was 14% in 1985.

Expand full comment

Oh I agree! My first house was 13% interest! I really wish the media would stop harping on Biden’s age. Trump is old too!

Young people are quick to blame boomers and Gen Xers, but seem to have little to zero grasp of the catastrophic consequences if they decide to “take their toys and go home” by either voting against Biden or not turning up at all. I no longer live in the US, so part of me is inclined to say then, screw you live with your idiotic choice. Unfortunately, most of me still has loved ones that I DO give a damn about. I hope these 18-34 year olds wake up before they live to regret their idiocy.😡

Heard from a 40 year old blue collar guy who I feel is going to vote for shitler: Biden is just too old; at least under trump gas prices were low now it costs me a fortune to fill up my truck; and why do we have to pay taxes so the government can send money to Ukraine when I’m struggling.

I don’t know, at some point I think we just deserve this sh!t. We’re just too stupid. But dammit it’s going to be painful.

It's all the Faux News and other right wing talking points that are repeated ad nauseum. Too many people in America are too stupid and too selfish.

Agree. In my retirement community, people vote GOP so they can get tax cuts...one issue voters. They don't care about anything else. It's sad and irresponsible to not care for other people, human rights, and our environment.

Did he vote for him before?

He voted for Obama, not sure if he voted for Hilary or Shitler; his family is strong Dem. I don’t know what to blame this on, he mentioned thinking Biden was unfit because he sounded senile and mumbled his words (I know Biden’s speech can be a little jumbled occasionally because that’s how he controls his stutter). This really is a replay of the swift boat attack on John Kerry: don’t attack your opponent on his weaknesses, attack him on yours. Shitler always sounded like a complete moron to anyone with half a brain, with his 200 word vocabulary and utter lack of knowledge or understanding of history, politics and international affairs. His dishonesty and corruption has been on display for decades. So of course he attacks Biden on corruption and being senile -- which tells me that he already knows that he himself is senile.

Considering the lasting blows he’s imposed on the country and the world in just four years, should he get elected in 2024 I think we’ll be entering Gilead. And there’s no leaving the country for better shores; the rot is reaching the entire Western world.

To think that after all he has done there still is the slightest chance of him getting elected, and that a sizable portion of the population supports him makes me want to vomit.

GOP loves to flip their sins onto the Democrats...like calling the Democrats racists.

Of course, that’s a classic. Accuse the opponent of your own sins. Look at the insults shitler has been hurling, it’s just a litany of his own crimes.

Well, isn’t that rich, going to Mar a Lago of all places feeling pious and righteous, to hash over good/evil, sexual impurity, contraception, federal abortion ban, etc. there ! Deeply religious extremists cannot be more than what, 10% of us? So, how do we keep getting ruled by a small portion wanting to reach far back in time?? Johnson quietly, in a sane voice, is trying to claw back 400 years to the Puritans and wants to legislate us to be more like them. Man, the lifetime appointed judges since the very clear pivotal point in our 250 year history, 2016. Damn the many efforts and desires that combined like a dark swirling mist rising up from witch’s cauldron of a perfect evil brew, “eye of newt and tongue of toad” to create this madness we are caught up in and are now stuck with many lifetime extremist judges. As if “my vote does not count” !! Constitutional originalists, why is there an amendment process then ? It was designed to grow and carefully change with us over the decades and centuries, not remain stagnant and dead. Such danger lurks in the mind behind that youthful looking, clean shaven face and soft, non-threatening voice. Danger, warning ⚠️

Election year talk that could trun younger voters off. The banning of some popular contraception will affect most of the younger voters. Of course Trump bangs prostitutes so he wouldn't talk like Johnson, they assume.

But Trump behind the scenes, his court picks will enable him to be excused by Johnson and his followers. We know what the new judges will be deciding and the young people are in for rough time. Many of the freedoms they have will be restricted or lost. Total abortion bans, contraception bans, adult entertainment bans, religion in schools for their children to be exposed too, new divorce hurdles, more workplace discrimination are all in Johnson and his followers.

One last point, Trump won't have to face re-election in his second term. He is going to be consumed with revenge on those who went against him in court.

The economy will not be a big concern for him.

I find MAGA Mike Refreshing in a way.

He is after all 100% true to funangelics plans for the world and that is cold hard Refreshing after years of Republicans who were Reaganism robots.

Reaganites hid their deepest desires under a veneer of "pro business " " small government "

MAGA Mike and his Millenial generation funangelics are much more transparent in their desire for a Christian Republic of States. (It certainly won't be United anymore).

So his boldness and truthful plans to use Trumplicans to reach full power are actually Refreshing. Why? AMERICA as we know it will end by 2034 if his generation has anything to do with it and the DonJohnCon will be kicked to the curb as soon as they are done using him as they ascend to power.

Johnson has to know that his fever dream of a Theocracy is just anathema to the younger people who consumed Hulu's The handmaid's Tale. He thinks the Hail Mary of trumpanzee returning to the White House is a done deal. Let me remind Signorile People that the GOP are a minority within a majority. The anti people policies are losers outside the gop bubble. This bull being floated about now will need to be resurrected next summer as a reminder of what's at stake heading into next fall. Same sex marriage has been around long enough for right wingers to know of their gay relatives they need to protect. As stated earlier, Project 2025 is our warning of what's at stake and how to shape our messaging. We can't afford to get it wrong...
