To make it almost unassailable, one constitutional scholar argues, at least one state legislature should expressly give power to elected officials to disqualify Trump--and do it now.
Sounds like a no-brainer to me! Disqualify the former guy from running for any office ever again. It's too bad that McTurtle Mitch and the R's in the Senate didn't convict and remove him from office. Asa Hutchinson and Chris Christie could also file suit since they are being harmed by him being on the ballot. I'm glad to see movement in places like Michigan and Florida and with civil rights groups. I just wonder WTF SCOTUS will do.
Sakina, you're so right, 100% a no-brainer! I truly appreciate folks like Michelangelo and Dean Obedallah who are seriously exploring - and giving a platform to - alternative strategies for how we can rid ourselves of this ass pimple once and for all. I need all progressives and democrats to get on board right now.

Sakina, you're right. Scotus is partisan so I have no faith in them. I hope the orange fungus is not on ballots so he has no chance to soil the White House again with his presence.
In my humble opinion the law enacted now needs to be Above Reproach Act. If you're the president and cannot act in the interest of every American, you cannot head the government period. If you are a citizen running for president you cannot be suspected of running a mob like organization. If you are suspected of running to improve your financial bottom line, you are disqualified. One can dream...Seriously, the framers at the time wrote the constitution to embed their interests which didn't foresee a multicultural america. Bottom line: we cannot depend on a supreme court to rescue us from a psycho in this era. They have proven they themselves regard themselves as above the law. It is no accident that white collar cretins, er, criminals get slap-on-the-wrist sentences. Let's just pack the court and limit terms to 8 years with a 4 to 4 split embedded and a chief justice limited to 4 years...as stated earlier: One can dream...
Thank you for this report. It is important that we understand how the Constitution works to support our democracy. My question is why are our government leaders afraid to follow the Constitutional Law? They say that we are a nation of laws starting with our constitution, which serves as the foundation for our nation of laws. Then federal and state laws which are developed with the constitution as the guide for creating a democratic society. How do we stop these weak leaders from destroying the democracy in favor of their desire for money and power? They clearly do not care about the freedoms that have caused America to flourish decade after decade. Their delusion is so apparent. They are not going to turn the clock backwards. We have no choice but to continue to move forward. The clock continues to move forward.
Be careful what you wish for. Put nothing past the 6-3/5-4 extremist majority on the SCOTUS. They’ve already shown their willingness to employ pretzel logic to achieve their goals, and to completely ignore stare desisis--and their own sworn testimony before Congress in their respective confirmation hearings--to arrive at the ruling(s) they want to. OTOH, it’s also possible that if a state were to bar Trump from the ballot next year, the SCOTUS might not even take up the case, citing States’ Rights, and especially that the respective legislatures determine their own methods of presidential elections. But, with this majority on the Court, my money would be on the former: a twisted ruling prohibiting any state from barring him from the ballot, a decision with no appeal. I doubt that it would ultimately be worth the effort, to have that be the result. This Court is perfectly capable of de facto declaring that one can engage in insurrection or, at the very least, giving “aid and comfort” to insurrectionists (something no one needs a court ruling to prove), and still be permitted to run again for POTUS...they have the majority and the power, and are unafraid to stick it in everyone’s eyes.

Arnie, that would be fair, but the GOP doesn't play nice. They are thugs who feel above the rest of the peons.
Institute a litmus test to gage just how liberal or conservative you are whilst strapped to a lie detector test.
Great idea! A lot of politicians would fail the test.
Many true sociopaths who call themselves conservative can pass a lie detector test, unfortunately.

That would be so lovely. One state? Nice.
By the way, that mugshot of his?
I have to share.
The moment I saw that pose, only one song came to mind...
---------------------------
What are you looking at?
Strike a pose
Strike a pose
Vogue vogue, vogue
Vogue vogue, vogue
Look around, everywhere you turn is heartache
It's everywhere that you go (look around)
You try everything you can to escape
The pain of life that you know (life that you know)
In fact, the instant I see the mugshot -- even accidentally -- I have to play this to calm down and laugh

Thanks much for this excellent info Mike !! I’ll have to take time to digest it in chunks.

Typo with a question mark
Yes, I absolutely agree? It’s a MUST.
