If the average gentile German citizen had known in 1933 that within ten years of Hitler's rise to power, a half million of their Jewish neighbors would either flee, or be murdered by their government, I don't think Hitler ever would have won the election. He didn't start out in 1933 with mass killing of Jews; he started out inciting hatred against Jews (and gays), fostering a climate of indifference to their fate...much like the campaign being waged by Foxnews/Republican Christian nationalist Trump supporters, against LGB and especially T Americans.
