I think the big problem here is that time is not on our side, they can push this thing out until after the election where unfortunately he could once again become president. I would like to believe such is the not the case, but we all thought it was impossible in 2016 and it happened, so nothing is impossible. Secondly, I think most people are going to regard this as "no big deal" nobody was hurt and thus, "eh, just slap him on the wrist". I am not a cynical person, but today's reporting in the WAPO about the slow movement of the DOJ and the general public's attention span, it is likely that people just aren't going to care.
